kcgumbohead
Alrighty, so now for the reason I came to the rye thread today. A Monday evening Starlight rye pour. No finishing, nothing to hide behind, just BP sweet mash NCF rye. This is good and remains the most "rye" rye I have ever tasted. Just a 375 distillery purchase so it wont last forever, I ration it out as a mood pour and today it matched the mood perfectly. Slainte!
MyBrainOnWhiskey
It might be Monday, but that doesn't mean it's not fRyeday... . I'm enjoying a small pour of WT Rare Breed rye to start the evening. I love the lemon/lime effervescence, bright citrus, and apple/pear notes. At the end of a very hot and humid summer's day in Florida the WT Rare Breed Rye is very refreshing. Cheers!

One of my favorite ryes.
kcgumbohead
A bit of WP piggyback last night. Its been a very nice bottle, I've enjoyed every pour and I've got maybe 1 left in the bottle, I wouldn't hesitate to replace it, a great daily type rye.

I haven’t had one in a while, but I remember enjoying it much more than I expected.

Wedelstaedt
WT101R tonight. I’m so glad this bottle is now readily available. Great stuff. Happy FRyeDay SB’rs. Cheers
Kepler
I'm having CEHT Rye tonight. Usually on a fRyeday I will either sample a few different ryes and nothing else, or else I'll drink something like bourbon or scotch and have one rye pour just to meet minimum SB fRyeday requirements But tonight, the Colonel is working so well, I'm just staying with this CEHT rye. This is my second pour... and who knows how many more of this I will have tonight... cheers to the Colonel

Anwalt
Tried and very much enjoyed Michters toasted barrel rye yesterday. Can't say why, just hit the spot. I need to try more & discern "why".
Richnimrod
Just finished trimming the bushes (AGAIN! WTF!?!?), trimming the lawn and cutting the lawn. Man! I MAY be getting too damned old fer this cr_p! Anyway, I digress... I made a 'very wet', 'very icy' Old Fashioned with WTRBR. It is hittin' all the right notes! Replacing vital fluids lost in the heat/humidity, cooling me down, and . . . Damn! It's pretty fargin' tasty! Life is pretty good in spite of my advancing years and declining physical abilities. HA!
kcgumbohead
Yesterday was a full blown mowing, edging, bush trimming (AGAIN WTF??? I'm right there with ya Rich), too exhausted to enjoy anything so this afternoon a WP SBBS is in the glass. I proof this one down from its 120ish origin with some ice chips so I don't know where sub 120 it lands, but it is rich, spicy, juicy, fruity and simply drinks better slightly diluted. The 100%rye is potent enough, I don't feel I get all that is on offer once the proof climbs too high.
Anwalt
Had 2 oz of the '24 M10. I like it. But I think I may like the Michters Toasted Barrel rye better, need to side by side them.
Thomm
The locust will have to do as a backdrop. I currently have no oak. This will be my first taste of anything double oaked. I was going to wait for Fryeday, but I'm just so dang curious. For what it's worth, I will report back with my impressions. It's in the glass resting right now, and the color is intriguing.
markandrex
A glass of Redemption 10 yr. MGP to start the evening.
Anwalt
Darn, but this is good. Need to do a side-by-side with Old Overholt 10y CS. I suspect this one is a bit less sweet. And nutty finish, but not peanutty.
kcgumbohead
I recently bought 2 of the JDSBBP RYE a 120 something and a 130 something. I preferred the lower proof at CS. Both good but I felt the 130+ could do better. I had a nice pour with a single cube that I allowed to melt, THATS the ticket. The flavors bloomed and it’s now a delicious pour. Sometimes CS bottles work as they are, others benefit from “tuning”. It’s part of what makes the whole SBBS experience fun. Been a JD fan for 40 yrs now and I’ve never enjoyed their output more than this current era with its breadth and quality. Ready for another 40 yrs .
Davesnothere
We were out and about this past weekend and stopped by the JD distillery and picked up a couple of the new twice barreled ryes. I haven't liked any twice barreled bourbons I've tried, but I like this rye. I'll have to sip a bit more and firm up an opinion. We also picked up the Knob Creek for $54. I haven't yet opened that one.

Wedelstaedt
WT101R in my glass. I’m watching F1 practice at Spa. I never can get enough of watching this track. Happy FRyeDay
Skinsfan1311
I started the evening with the JDSBBP whiskey...ending it with the rye. I have a couple of picks on the way, one of each, so tonight's pours are to set the baseline for comparison. So....I guess this is for science?
