smokinjoe
With all the talk of Eagle Rare SB 101 lately, I've decided to open one of my bottles. This one's a Frankfort, and very good.
NYtaster
Smokinjoe, me and some friends opened the same bottle last week and had the same impression. Im kind of suprised that Eagle Rare gets little mention on the board. Tonite I'm working on my Weller Antique 107 BOTM purchase, like the Eagle Rare its a relative bargin in NY even more so. $21 for a liter and its injoyable straight from the bottle. What more could you ask for!

Old Lamplighter
So far, it has been a night of heresy.......Crown & Coke. Very good combo while grilling steaks. Now just hoping I left enough room for some bourbon for desert a bit later.
shoshani
I did a mini-tasting last night for two friends of ours, ladies whom my wife and I have known for years and who live just down the block. I introduced them to Elmer T. Lee, which both of them loved, and one mentioned that they had also really enjoyed some Sazerac (Handy) I had poured for them a few weeks ago. I mentioned that both were from the same distillery, and that this distillery makes easily half a dozen of my favorite whiskeys (I've really been on Buffalo Trace like Dave Ziegler on Publicker ), and that's when I brought out the ammunition. After the Elmer I let them sample Rock Hill Farms, explaining to them that the "recipe" was identical but how the barrel aged in the warehouse made a big difference in flavor. They did catch the fact that RHF is lighter in "oily" body than ETL, even though it has a higher proof. Next I brought out Weller Antique and ORVW 10/107, again telling them that the recipe and proof were identical but that one had aged longer than the other and was possibly from a different warehouse. I also explained that both of these used wheat in place of rye, so the flavor should be expected to be different. Both ladies preferred the Weller Antique to the ORVW. Elmer T. Lee won the evening all around, though. Everyone liked both its nose and flavor.

TBoner
Ribs have been smoking the day away. Meanwhile, I've been drinking:Had a Shiner Commemorator first (not a true double bock as the name and marketing imply, but a good true bock, which Shiner Bock, of course, is not). Now having some Tom Moore BIB: an excellent bottle of recent vintage. Copper-orange with notes of butterscotch, vanilla, and spiced rum, much like the older bottlings I've had. Simply superb whiskey; I haven't sipped much of this bottle neat, and I now feel I've made a mistake.I'll be sampling some Parker's Heritage next.Regards,Tim

gothbat
Earlier I was drinking the last of a bottle of Sazerac and the last of a bottle of Rittenhouse BIB that I'd mixed not too long ago, probably about 40% Rittenhouse and 60% Sazerac. I was curious to know what my two favorite low cost ryes tasted like blended but this was more a consolidation effort than anything... Although not bad at all mixed they're both much better on their own! Anyway, right now, a little '07 WLW.
callmeox
Saturday night was a nice pour of OF Signature on a cube and last night was the Russels Reserve Rye with the same treatment while fighting the pileup in the chat room.
Buffalo Bill
I just came across a very GOOD bottle of Sam Houston and I'm enjoying it. One never knows... I kept scratching my head, then went for it. it has turned out to be one of the better $30 bottles I've purchased in a long time. Go figure... ILLfarmboy
After a bout with the flu that turned into a nasty head cold that seemed to hang on forever, I'm finally enjoying some bourbon again, Weller Antique. I'm sure some of the finer points of its flavor profile are still lost on me. I'm having a tough time shaking the remnants of this cold. I've pretty much been sick since Tuesday the sixth. This isn't the winter weight loss program I had in mind.
callmeox
As a normal Monday, I had some BT at the bowling alley. They finally got the bottle into the computerized bar register, but they effed up the price. BT is $1.20 more than WT101 for a 750 here, but they have it 60 cents less per pour in the computer at the bowling alley.Woo!
