Josh
Made a quick stop to the Grand Ave. Binny's on Wednesday and picked up 1 bottle of Binny's Hand Selected Eagle Rare, their hand selected Weller 12 y/o and a bottle of 4R for the bunker, such as it is. Not sure if Ill ever be a hardcore wheatie, but I am looking forward to trying the Weller.

shannichols
Well I wanted to buy a bottle of the 12yo Weller but the Liquor Barn on Man O' War didn't have it on the shelf when I was there yesterday. I'll check when I'm back in Lexington in two weeks. My outlaws purchased me a bottle of WTRB when we were visiting over Christmas. Although it isn't a bourbon my father gave me back a bottle of Jack Daniels' Barrelhouse 1 in the wooden box from 1994 that I had bought for him for $37 back then. My main haunt was out of the 12 last time I was in there and the other store just has the older bottling. We have already had an AAA scare, lets hope there is no Weller 12 shortage (that is one bottle I would buy by the case)BTW... welcome to the club ;-)

kickert
Would that be the Weller 12 with the white and gray label or older as in the 17 yr old? The old label 12 yr is great!
ACDetroit
It is the just the older label in the SR/Antique bottle. This other place actually only has handles left. Oh well... I guess if you are forcing me to, I could go through 1.75 of my favorite bourbon.I have a few of them myself...You are correct, you will find it easy to go through a 1.75 and I really like the old label bottle!!!Cheers!Tony

TBoner
Not gonna speak for Tony, but I think the taste is different and better. Note that the label change occurred just a bit over 12 years after S-W quit distilling. Coincidence? Perhaps. But I get a touch more of that old cotton candy in the old-label Weller 12. I've one handle left and that's it, but apparently someone else in DFW agrees with me, because he bought about 30 fifths and a half-dozen handles in a week in early 2008. Every store I went to that had a good stock suddenly sold out. It's good stuff. No bourbon purchases for me today. None since I bought some BTAC before the New Year, actually. And I kind of like it that way for now...Regards,

The old school bottle has one thing going for it and it's all on the inside! Thanks for the help Tim!Tony
fishnbowljoe
Well, I couldn't stand it any more. After all the posts here, and discussions in the gazebo, I picked up a bottle of 08 Stagg and a bottle of LotB. Joe Be sure to let us know if we were right or not about those two bottles. As is the case more often than not, yes Oscar, you were right. Just like Campbell's soup, "Mmmmmm, Mmmmmm, Good!" Joe

JeffJ
I picked up another bottle of the best bourbon in my podunk little town, Knob Creek. Time to make another run to South Bend. I'm saving up for when the weather turns a little nicer to go up to Chicago and I'll go on a shopping spree at Bennie's.

smokinjoe
A couple of Lot B's, and was intrigued by a bottle of Canadian Club 100 proof. As it was only $15, I picked it up.
fishnbowljoe
"Say it ain't so Joe!" Way to go. CC used to be my favorite whisky. I'm curious about the taste of the 100 proof version. Let us know how it is. Joe (the bowling one)

kickert
I picked up some ezra brooks 90. It was a new bourbon and I tried it today (I guess I could really post this in a variety of places). My wife actually encouraged me to get it so I couldn't pass it up. I was going to get Rebel Yell. While this is not my favorite, it certainly has a nice boldness that is not overly harsh. Let us know how it is. Joe (the bowling one) Well, one of my biggest accounts is switching their purchasing to their location in Canada...so...I guess I better learn to like Canadian whiskey, and start ending sentences with "eh?" I have been pleasantly surprised with the CC 100 proof. My experience with Canadians (whiskies) is very limited, but they have been just too soft and mild for my liking. This is definitely bolder than those, with lots of caramel coming through. I think the higher proof is a plus, but it seems more than just a higher alcohol content working here. Anyway, Go Leafs!, and pass the CFL rulebook, eh? JOE (The curling one)
