I had Rittenhouse BIB before dinner yesterday and WLW 2008 after. My lady Yvonne did taunt me a lot when I did put water in the later.

Finished off a remarkable bottle of WLW 2010 at the neighbor's house while watching Wisconsin roll over Michigan.

After going to a wine tasting event I had the last out of my WRMCSO and a pour of Stagg 2009. The event was nice, but wine isn’t really anything I like to drink in that way. It’s simply a meal drink to me. As the dinner after the event was so small I just had a bunch of sandwiches a wile ago and now I having a fernet branca as a night cap.

Rare Breed. Getting notes of "barnyard" off this one, it's not the cork I'm sure which smells sweet and clean. I recall this taste from some 1950's and 60's bourbons too. Not off-putting really, but something I noticed.

John,

I was wonder what you were drinking while I was at the game.

No disrespect for Wisconsin, but your team beat up on a bad football team yesterday.

I didn't have to drown my sorrows as I expected an outcome similar to that.

After the game my wife and I went to the Haehnle Bird Sanctuary to watch the Sandhill cranes. There is a single Whooping crane that migrates with the Sandhill but we didn't see it yesterday.

Latter I had a little PVW15.

I've got a pair of Sandhills that show up in my yard once a week and will let me get within a few yards of them. Not sure what they like about my place, but they keep coming back.

As for bourbon, last night I had a tasting with a good friend. She was anxious to learn more about bourbon and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Had a little of each of the following:

ORVW 10/90

Pappy 20

Knob Creek

GTS 09

All of this Pappy talk of late has me drinking the VWFRR from this year. It might be my favorite whiskey. Period. At least right now.

2010 Stagg. Just starting on this bottling, but it seems to have a lot more butterscotch up front, than do earlier years. Certainly, doesn't smack me in the kisser like I expected this 143 proofer to do. So far, so very good...

Some Jack Daniels, cherryish and rounded with a glycerine smoothness. Some bottlings are really good, others can be a little harsh or show too much banana. When you get a good one, it would impress any bourbon fan (trust me). Then, Rare Breed to which I added a dash (in the glass) of EC 12 and EC 18. Much improved IMO over the regular Rare Breed.

Couldn't wait until Thanksgiving Day so I opened a Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit today.

Sipping neat.

It's a pewter top dated November 7, 2001.

But I am saving the Stagg for Thanksgiving Eve.

Sipping on this SS OCPR tonight, I'm reminded on how much I love this bourbon.

Just opened a 1970'S Jim Beam decanter.80 Proof 100 Months in Oak.

Not too bad for 80 proof.Nice balance soft mid-palate and finish.Flavors of light caramel, licorice and a hint of earthiness. It was a very enjoyable pour. Not a monster bourbon just a soft and elegant one.

Regards, Mike

Having a bit of Bulleit tonight to wind down a long day. Not working the rest of the week is nice, but made for a long day today.
