fishnbowljoe
Last night was bowling night. We had a few beers, some Baby Saz, ET 150th Anniversary, and Joe's Reserve. When that ran out.................. rather than drink JB White, Gary and I had some Crown Royal. Tonight, after a great day at work, I'm having some 07 WLW. It's been a good Veteran's Day. Cheers! Joe
nor02lei
WT 101 from 81 and KS from 05 before dinner. Both tasted excellent and a bit similar in the way that they were both vanilla heave. Still the old-timer was defiantly better, to my personal taste. Than after dinner some more 1981 with real good dark fruity chocolate. A breathtaking combination as I see it.Leif
M14Shooter
Hi LeifI too prefer the older Wild Turkeys from the early 80's.I just traded a friend for a 1983 and it seems to have much more flavor and a better balance. Then the current release. For a current Wild Turkey bottling I usually will drink Rare Breed. It retails for about $32.00 in my area.Regards,Mike
B.B. Babington
Well, went from a couple glasses of weller reserve to elijah 18yo. seems like the only time I think EC18 is too woody is following weller. but to compensate, a few more glasses of EC18 settled in nice. But then felt the need for for a weak/mild flavor like stagg so's had a couple of those. I wish glencairnes were smaller 'cause it was hard to pour this last sip o' stagg. well, last till the next one, think maybe woodford maple is talking to me. M14Shooter
Sipping on some 1969 S/W Old Fitz 100 ProofColor: Dark GoldNose:Butter Scotch,Pecan ,Hazelnut,Cane sugar and a hint of Vanilla.I also pick up just a hint of earth and barrel charTaste:Great weight ,Butter,Honey,Some Carmel,Hint of toffee and Maple and did I say Butter ! It also had a oily and viscous feel in the Mid-palate.The finish was very big with a some Oak and a lot of Pecan Pie.The finish was at least 40-50 seconds. This Bourbon really spoiled me.I love this stuff. This was my first taste of this.I am developing a taste for Old School S/W Bourbon.Regards,Mike

jburlowski
Unwinding after a bad week at work, Several righteous pours of WTAS and Tradition. Like em both but the AS more. Accompanied by some great MT TAM, triple creame cheese from Cowgirl Creamery. Smooth, very, very rich with undertones of mushroom. Heaven!I can feel the tensions of the week easing away. chilidawg7
Last football trip of the year for me today. Heading up to Gainesville for the Florida-South Carolina matchup. Winner goes to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game. That said, I just enjoyed a healthy pour of recently purchased Weller 12 and will be enjoying a steady flow of the same at the tailgate. smokinjoe
Troyce stopped over last night for an Executive Board Meeting of the Georgia Bourbon Society. While discussing various topics relating to Q3 and Y-T-D results, Q4 status, 2011 Board nominations, Green Initiatives, Licensing Fees, Six Sigma Certification status, statistical and observational analysis of Raquel Welch, and submitting budgets and forecasts for 2011, we ripped through several samples of our collective bunkers while also enjoying a few cigars. A few pours really stood out. The Wathen's he brought was spectacular. A newer bottling, that I think he picked up at Liquor World during KBF. Great, great, great nose. The '70-'71 Old Fitz 1849 10 yr continues to dazzle. It's an overused cliche, I know, but they really just don't make 'em like that anymore. Also, hit on Southern Corn Whiskey from 13th Colony Distilleries, in Americus, GA. Nicely done product. Aged in used cooperage with some toasted oak chips added, gives it a very nice color and flavor profile. The '04 Stagg was the nightcap. I don't visit the '04 too often, but was reminded last night that it is still my favorite of the Stagg line-up. With that, the 54th EBM of the Georgia Bourbon Society was officially closed. lrochau
Decided to try to salvage the day after the Hawks got beat by Northwestern so I have opened one of my BTAC 09 Weller bottles. Good lord, this stuff is amazing mixed with 7-up! Kidding, just Weller and a couple cubes. My favorite bourbon so far to date. Doesn't drink like 130+ proof. Amazing. T Comp
I came across a 1.75L JW Dant BIB from the early 90s not long ago. It was excellent. Very dark, almost black. I wish I could find another.http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=207976&postcount=591Interesting as I have a 750ml DSP 2/DSP 16, with a 91 on the bottom of the bottle which is certainly not dark in color but very much in tune with your tasting notes. I agree it is delicious juice.
