Special Reserve
Never too early, huh? :grin:Never too early. Actually I was slow at posting. WT 12 was at about 0800. Got up at 0530 as I slept in today.WillPS. Bourbon in the AM is best, unfortunately it is also incompatible with work. I'll have to rethink that retirement date. T Comp
Another side of the dark side, a few sips of Mount Gay Extra Old rum as a nice change of pace, while tending to the smoker. It'll be bourbon later.

StraightNoChaser
Oh god, what have I done. I got a bottle of Pure Kentucky XO this afternoon (mostly because I have never seen it in Texas) and was very curious about it so I opened immediately. I absolutely regret buying this bottle now, it's offensively woody and almost... sour. Now I know what overaged tastes like.
ILLfarmboy
A Baby Saz Old Fashioned. When its hot out I just don't feel like drinking much. But this is hitting the spot.
bgageus
Brought the dog down to the bunker to mellow him from all the loud noises in the neighborhood. Since he's getting mellow, I figured I woiuld too and poured me some OWA, which since I got my first bottle a few weeks back has been disappearing suspiciously faster than any other bourbon down here. mosugoji64
It was a long day for the bourbon. Had a friend over and we were doing some serious sampling. Started with EWSB '95 followed by '93 just for comparison, then we moved on to some pre-HH Dant. Enjoyed some FRSB after that, then some Old Forester Birthday '10. Had a little OWA after that, then wrapped up with ORVW 10/107. All of that has me feeling like it's time for bed! Happy Independence Day, everyone! I've never gotten that sour note that you mention - maybe you got a bad bottle (or perhaps I got lucky and had a good bottle).

I don't know, I must have gotten a bad batch. It tastes seriously awful :skep:On the other hand, the Weller Centennial BHC I broke into last night was astoundingly delicious

I have the same issue with EWSB... folks rave about it and I don't get it...
