Started with an OFBB 2010 then decided to make some room I would hit the closest to empty. Four pours of OGD BIB later I have an empty space on the bar. Think I'll open a rye, perhaps the High West Rendezvous.

Some VOB BIB while watching the Braves win. Moved on to a very old bottle of Johnny Walker that I finished.

I decided it was time to have something extra nice, so I opened one of the two bottles of Weller 12 I had left from my trip to Chicago. Yes, it's as good as I remember. This ranks way up there, maybe one of my favorites. I have to really ration this. I can't get it in IN.

Some RR, followed by some WLW (BTAC) 2010. Great combo. The 90 proof RR set up the barrel proof WLW very well. The former is a good, good whiskey. The latter is a great whiskey.

Vacationing in Cape May NJ - had some WT101 - pretty much all they had down here. I guess I should have packed some of the bar in addition to the beach umbrella!

(P.S.- I do like WT101, but any NJ SBers who know where I can get a better selection down the shore it would sure be appreciated!)

A nice pour of Black Bush in honor of Clarke's victory. Moving on to some WTRB next.

Four Roses Single Barrel 2011 Limited Edition, neat.

I finally got it yesterday.

Yesterday's impressions are different than today's.

This is subtle and rich at the same time and I will need to spend more time with it.

So far?

Thumbs up!

I haven't started drinking them quite yet but a WTRR 90 and current ORVW 107 (brought to 90) have been poured for a face-off tonight, just because of their equal age and my impressions of the current ORVW 107 having too much oak and smoke in it for its own good and just to keep educating meself. I'm waiting first for the tastes of a Lou Malnati's pizza to clear the palate...you know about that now, don't you, smokingjoe  .

Lou's? Did somebody say Lou's???? You're a lucky man to be enjoying Lou's tonight, Thad. Fortunately, I was at the EGV Lou's the week before last, and got my fill, so I'm not totally envious. Just, short of totally envious, though! :D

Sipping on a Buffalo Trace as the sun goes down. I know these things change with all of us, and I might change my opinion next month. But, if I were asked to name the best "off the shelf", consistent, everyday, average priced bourbon on the market today...I would have to answer, Buffalo Trace. This whiskey is in my wheelhouse in recent months. From color, to finish, it is delivering every good attribute that I can think of, for a perfect bourbon whiskey.

Too hot outside to do anything so went to a buddys at shot pool. We had a few snorts of juice: Dalmore Cigar Malt, Rock Hill Farms, Rittenhouse and BTrace. Getting ready to start round two of the day off with Pappy 15.

I agree. Got mine last week and I'm digging it. Not as luxurious as 2009, or as assertive as 2010, but wonderful all the same.

Just sitting around sipping pours of Buffalo Trace. It's 8:42 pm here and it's still 98 degrees. One of these days the temps gotta break.

Have a pour of a vatting of BH and OGD 114...at a 1:1 ratio it's a really tasty blend...give the OGD 114 some age and provides the BH some much needed proof! I don't get into this bottle often but I should...

It's gotta be me. Just, confused, I guess. But earlier, I'm sippin' on a pour of VWFRR, and I'm getting that vitaminy, Dickel 12 thing, goin' on. I literally did a double-take, and had to re-confirm that I indeed, did pour the VWFRR. Not, a bad thing, mind you, as I really like the Dickel 12. But, this was just, plain, weird.

A "Fancy Old Fashioned" (as described by Jerry Thomas via Robert Hess) with this month's BOTM, Makers 46.

Tried to enjoy a pour of some cherry-infused Pure Kentucky XO this evening. Had some cherries marinating in bourbon for the past month or so, and finished the cherries off this evening. Poured off the last of the bourbon in a glass and tried drinking it. It was VERY sweet due to some sweetener I added during the marination. Tried cutting it with some JB Devil's Cut thinking the woody nature would balance it out, but it didn't work. I made it half-way through and said, "Screw it." Ended up drinking a Full Sail bourbon-barrel-aged stout instead. Now THAT is some damned fine beer!

On vacation, and have been going back and forth between a bottle of WT101 and RR 10/90. I have to admit that the WT101 is growing on me, and am impressed with the QPR this bottling delivers. I like the RR 10/90 but have found myself putting in a splash of the 101 to punch it up a bit...

4R OBSQ, Binny's barrel. I got this on clearance, but it's so damn good, I don't believe I'll be able to wait until clearance for next season's crop! Last time I tried 4R was a few years ago. I thought it was interesting, but it was hard for me to grasp. I recall the astringency and that was just something I wasn't used to as a bourbon drinker. My palate has moved miles since then, and this bottle is an absolute delight. I have to admit that I'm a bit overwhelmed... 4R lays everything out, and there are so many choices!
