Never too early, huh?

Never too early. Actually I was slow at posting. WT 12 was at about 0800. Got up at 0530 as I slept in today.

Will

PS. Bourbon in the AM is best, unfortunately it is also incompatible with work. I'll have to rethink that retirement date.

Another side of the dark side, a few sips of Mount Gay Extra Old rum as a nice change of pace, while tending to the smoker. It'll be bourbon later.

Bowman Rye cask strength, neat.

Trying to block out tomorrow's work reality.

Oh god, what have I done. I got a bottle of Pure Kentucky XO this afternoon (mostly because I have never seen it in Texas) and was very curious about it so I opened immediately. I absolutely regret buying this bottle now, it's offensively woody and almost... sour. Now I know what overaged tastes like.

A Baby Saz Old Fashioned.

When its hot out I just don't feel like drinking much. But this is hitting the spot.

Brought the dog down to the bunker to mellow him from all the loud noises in the neighborhood. Since he's getting mellow, I figured I woiuld too and poured me some OWA, which since I got my first bottle a few weeks back has been disappearing suspiciously faster than any other bourbon down here.

Enjoying the 4th with several pours of AAA 10 y/o along with a good cigar.

Some EWB in aid of making a boilermaker. Will likely pour some EC12 later to celebrate the 4th.

It was a long day for the bourbon. Had a friend over and we were doing some serious sampling. Started with EWSB '95 followed by '93 just for comparison, then we moved on to some pre-HH Dant. Enjoyed some FRSB after that, then some Old Forester Birthday '10. Had a little OWA after that, then wrapped up with ORVW 10/107. All of that has me feeling like it's time for bed! Happy Independence Day, everyone!

Lol I like Pure Kentucky XO. I've never gotten that sour note that you mention - maybe you got a bad bottle (or perhaps I got lucky and had a good bottle).

Same here... drinking through a fairly recent bottle that is quite good....

I read a bunch of reviews that were all positive on my phone before deciding to buy it. I don't know, I must have gotten a bad batch. It tastes seriously awful :skep:

On the other hand, the Weller Centennial BHC I broke into last night was astoundingly delicious

We all taste different things in whiskey... what is excellent to one person is undrinkable to another.... may not be a bad bottle as much as it is just a whiskey that just doesn't do it for you. I have the same issue with EWSB... folks rave about it and I don't get it...

Me neither.

I'm sipping on some 1792, right now.

I like EWSB, but I don't think it's rave worthy.
