AaronWF
Oh fuck, I've had a gangbusters weekend. Those of you reared in the 50s know what I'm talking about, except you'd never use the word 'fuck' without major drama, and those of you who watch Mad Men may understand as well. Of course, I'm in the latter camp, and I'm on my second viewing of Mad Men season 2. My point is, you retired young'uns crack me up, and you're dangerous! But I filled my weekend with PHC10 wheated. I finally found a sweet spot with this bourbon, watered down to about 100 proof. I have officially found the awe with this expression, after doubting the first half of the bottle. I also happened upon a bottle of 4R 100: stunning and elegant. I am only a recent convert to 4R, but a fervent one.

tmckenzie
Thanks to a friend here on the forums I drank a whole pint myself of nd Old Taylor from 1986. That stuff is damn skippy. I know there has been speculation on here about the mash bill and production methods, I just wish I knew it all. I can tell there is a ton of rye in it, and i beleive they made a really sour mash. And they ran every last drop if flavor out of it. I think one of the things that may have changed whiskey production was trying to save energy. Takes a lot more steam to run a still to get it to come off at a lower proof. Maybe because of the glut, they needed to cut costs and that was one of them. Luna56
Sitting in a hotel bar in LA with an EWSB, 2001. I am reminded now why I never buy this stuff any more. It's not real bad but it doesn't distinguish itself much from the NAS EW. Except for the price, that is, nineteen bucks for a double. Shoulda had the WT101. Complaints aside, still nice to have a decent nightcap before I get on the plane home in the morning. Tomorrow will be a Woodford day (the only bourbon on Delta) .Cheers! mosugoji64
EW BIB. I think this is my favorite in the EW line. I'd like to try vatting this with the black label to see if it gives it the extra kick the black label needs.
StraightNoChaser
A 2009 Old Forrester birthday bourbonThe nose... is excellent. The initial flavor is nice. The finish is... sour? Lacking?
