I think I finally got a skunky bottle of Elijah Craig. I got it in Nebraska and it came in a box so it might have been an earlier batch. I've had quite a few bottles of it and this is the first to do me wrong. Its also the first possible older batch, all the others I've had have been current.

Trying Rye Whiskey for the first time tonight (still a rookie). First the Jim Beam Rye , then the Wild Turkey Rye, then the.....Wild Turkey Rye.....then.....wow, the Turkey is 1/4 empty......

Thanks Joe! ...the WT101 saw its last around 2pm, after returning from the beach ... the RR10/90 is about half gone - I've gained an appretiation of both given the less than ample choice down the Jersey shore - but I have to admit, both of these bottlings were good soldiers and will now work their way into the rotation once back in the real world...!

Unfortunately, I was unable to kill all of what I took to OBX. A VWFRR, GTS2010, PVW15, PVW23, WTRye, OWA, 8yr Willett, and a RittBIB. I did my best and took down half of most and all of a few.

After looking at that line-up and realizing I only had 7 days to do it, I think I did a pretty good job.

Yikes! And here I am struggling to find anything drinkable down here! Perhaps I should hop that ferry to DE....

Really enjoyed several pours of ORVW 10/90 after a very hot 36 holes of golf today.

SMOWK

The La Flor Dominicana Double Legero is also one of my favorites however I have to order them as I have no smoke shop in my town but then I have order bourbon too.

Tonight after the sun set I am having AAA 10 y/o along with a Alec Bradley Prensado. Don't think I'll get these again as it burned uneven and kept going out.

A vatting, and the guys who are cool with vatting would really like it I think. 1980's 80 proof VOB, current Old Fitzgerald, 1980's Woerner's (a former private label from the Bay Area, CA) and a dash of EC 12. So, 4 year, 6 year and 12 year old bourbons. A silky soft drink with notes of peanut brittle and a May-December quality.

Just home from the family's vacation, and am starting the evening with a 2008 OF BB. Not sure where the night will lead, but am pretty sure it'll be high rye.

CnB barrel selection #16 ETL. Very rich and buttery... kinda like carmel corn.

Old Forrester Bonded DSP 414 from 1984...this is my second time having this bourbon and it's much better then I remember it being at Timothy's the first time. It could be that it's my first pour of the night vs when I had it at Timothy's it followed Ritt BIB neat. I've found that it's hard to follow any rye with bourbon as it doesn't have the same zip. I was on the fence about getting these but now I'm pretty happy that I took the chance on these. :)

A congratulatory pour of, and to, 2010 Stagg, for it's selection as Spirit of the Year.

Just having some Buffalo Trace with some ice in an attempt to cool down as it is still 96 degrees and humid in my little slice of heaven.:skep:

Just put some andouille on the grill, and poured myself a 4R "Maison du Whisky" special bottling. My sake importer is in town for the weekend, pouring his wares at Surdyk's sale tasting, and he's coming over for dinner tonight. Am sure he'll be ready for a few Bourbons tonight.

I just "found" a lost bottle of BT lost barrels, distilled and barreled 5-93, bottled at at 17 yr 7 mo (I had hid it from the wife in my gun safe)

Sitting on my back deck after another day of working around the house getting ready to move, it was 101 today with 85% RH, and I just lit one of my Habana Cohiba maduro #5s.....relaxing!!!

Started off the evening with some Devil's Cut while grilling some rib eyes and corn on the cob for dinner while the wife tossed a salad. Will probably finish the night with some Eagle Rare 10 y/o.

Started off with some BT single barrel Khan's Fine Wine's private selection, followed by Old Forester B-Day 2010. Man, that BT is good!

Old Fitz BIB (DSP-KY-1) - about 2/3rds through this bottle and I'm liking it more and more. I still get a minty/menthol quality to this bourbon, but I just had it side-by-side with a Weller SR and Weller Antique 107 and I have to say that both on price and taste, at least to my taste, the Old Fitz beats them both - the Wellers seem more one dimensional and the 107 a bit hot in comparison to the Old Fitz ...

Anyone know the avg. age of the Old Fitz BIB? It seems to have more going on than the Wellers - seems to have a lot more in common with EC12 to my taste even though it is wheat vs. rye?
