My newly-converted-to-bourbon friend and I shared some OGD 114. We did a side-by-side comparison with OWA so he could experience the difference between rye and wheat bourbons. I think he's hooked!

Well executed and mission accomplished! Plenty of room at the table for another whisk(e)y enthusiast.

Had a Jim Beam Black to start with last night and then joined the party with a couple of light pours of Abraham Bowman BS.

Holy No Roses Batman!!!

I noticed that I have no open 4R's and went into a breif panic.

But then I remembered I have a bunker,...whew!

So I pull out a standard 4R1B I picked up in KY in mid July when I made my OWA run.

Very nice but there seems to be a fight going on with this one between the fruity yeast and high rye mashbill. I may have to referee it for a while.

Is it a sin to drink Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit from a Canadian Whiskey Glass?

Evidence below.

That's my trademark, if you don't see that baseball,...(btw I caught that for my 4 1/2 yo daughter in 1988, her first Tiger game)...in my pics then it's a fraud.

Cool! Thanks for the insight. Now tell your Tiger's to get busy and spread the gap. Those White Sux are creeping in. Good God don't let them get in the top slot of the Central!

Having another taste craving for the TPS Abraham Bowman. Should I dare?!

Oh hell yeah, another Bowman Rye always seems like a good idea,...tonight.

And I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chi-Sox win the division title.

EWSB '99 incarnation. Just got out of the pool, an afternoon with my ladies (4 yr old and 3 mo old) in the pool is wonderful!

Got to the bar and grill ahead of my friends tonight, so I studied the half dozen or so bourbons on offer while sipping my Oberon. (Couple Beam SBC selections, MM 46, a few others.)

Later, when we were seated outside and a few beers in, one of my buddies suggests we have a pour of bourbon. Waitress, of course, has no idea what they have on offering -- I ask for Buffalo Trace neat, and my bud requests it on the rocks. Waitress comes back from the outside bar and tells us they don't have BT. I correct her, and let her know they have it inside. She comes back five minutes later with our pours, telling me the bartender inside didn't even know it was sitting on the shelf. :banghead:

Last night was a couple of generous pours of Parkers wheated. I had burned through a bottle when they first came out and haven't had any since. I had forgotten how good this juice was.

Same thing with me. If you don't find sarcasm in my post, it's a fraud.

You're such a cynic Oscar. The Tigers will win the division and then lose to the Yankees in 5 games in the playoffs.

Verlander winning the Cy Young though...now that's a nice prospect.

Back on topic...I'm enjoying some WT 101 on the front porch while I get devoured by mosquitoes.

Cynic? Nope, a realist.

Funny thing about mosquitoes this year, we have had the nicest summer as far as those pests are concerned and you know how many lakes and swamps are in my area.

BTW, WTRR 90, neat.

Old HH BiB (Gold Label). On the rocks. Lots of it. Great, inexpensive way to beat the heat in Dallas right now.

Started with EW BiB and now onto FC 103. It's interesting that I don't pick up that nutty flavor in the FC that's so prominent in the EW since both are HH distillate and only 3 proof in difference.

I'm at Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar in Plano, TX enjoying some of their very, very fine Barrel Select Eagle Rare 10. This stuff actually blows away my ER17. Spicy and rich with a great punch! I must have drank nearly a whole bottle of this stuff over the past month.

Started off with some OWA 7 yr followed by OWA NAS for comparison. The two seem very close to me with the 7 yr being a little sweeter and the NAS bottling having a bit more soft wheat flavor. I'm happy to have a bottle of the 7 yr, but don't think there's enough of a difference to make me lament its eventual passing. Following those up with some AAA 10 yr.
