BarrelChar
Some fun dusty additions! These minis are the closest I'll ever come to experiencing the thrill of being alive in the late 1970s, minus Jimmy Carter and disco.

BarrelChar
Just a little bit of evaporation = excuse to crack open the WT and Michter's soon!Ha, for the other two bottles I told myself, "Well, these are a history lesson and a great excuse to bond with Chuck at a future Sampler." And poof, they were cracked open almost instantly. The Michter's is so unique: a kind of pencil shaving/wood varnish quality to it unlike any whiskey I've ever tried. The Wild Turkey displayed a slightly weak nose that belied the dynamite spicy taste, far superior to the current 81 or 101 in my opinion. The OGD was full of caramel and burnt butter, with the youth showing through on the alcoholic finish. Very good juice and some more time in the barrel, it would be utterly spectacular. The big surprise was the Harper. It's quite nice! A nose of corn and fresh baked cinnamon bread, similar taste, solid balance. A simple one-note affair, but a fine one. tommyj1986
Apparently one of my local stores did get some Van Winkle allocation this spring. Walked in this morning and picked up almost all of it, 2x ORVW 10/107 at $37 and 1 ORVW 10/90 at $31.50. Edit: Checked another store out of curiosity, found one more ORVW 10/107 for $36. Clavius
I just got home with a Liquor Barn Selection of Knob Creek Single Barrel. It says Barrel #116 on the front "plaque" affixed to the bottle. But on the side there is a strip of paper with more info:
jtexaslonestar
Stopped today and bought a WTRB that was bottled in '06 and it had some white "flakes" floating on the bottom. I believe I read an earlier post about this, and it turned out ok for the OP. I also bought a WTR101, and they had plenty left!

Young Blacksmith
I see those white flakes quite a bit around here, especially when dusty hunting. I look at it like plume on a cigar, it's a sign of something good inside there.

clingman71
Had to go to Cincy for work today, can't not hop the river into NKY and do some shopping. Picked up a DEPS selected EWSB and what may be the last available CnB OWA #60. The Covington location said that someone came in a week or so ago and bought all of their barrel selected OWA. Their other location had plenty of #s 54, 56, & 58, but no 59 and the lone bottle of #60.
