jwacky
Had some Evan Williams Egg Nog last night, tasty stuff considering it sits at room temp until it's purchased. Added some Mellow Corn after a few sips to ramp up the proof. Be a lot cheaper to buy regular egg nog and EW Black at the grocery store but I wanted to try the 'official' stuff. bourbonfoot
I was at a local whiskey bar last week after our state PVW allocations were released. I asked the bar tender if they got any. He said no and complained that other chain restaurants and bars got up to 30 bottles apiece, and the only whiskey bar in town didn't get any. I mentioned I got 4 (luckily... one reserved, three by chance walking in before they got put on the shelf). So we talked about that and said they did get WLW BTAC in, which I haven't had before. The bottle maybe had one or two pours, at most, left. At $39 a pour though, I passed, and got a glass of Laphroaig instead. When bringing over the Laphroiag, the bartender brought me a glass of water and said "Use this to cleanse your pallet, here's a taste of the Weller." Just shows what kind of service you can get from some great people at a great bar. I left him a big tip.
smknjoe
And how did you like your first taste of WLW (2013?)
Kalessin
A friend brought a bottle of Four Roses Mariage last night, the first time I've ever had it. Thought it was delicious. Very impressed. Was this something that was put out more than one year? Multiple different blending of mashbills, or just the one? His bottle said 2008 on it.The other Mariage bottle, the 2009, is also fabulous if you happen to find one out in the wild. The original Mariage concept was to "marry" two bourbons together (in many places, bartenders will "marry" two bottles with the same label and contents together to keep things looking more than half-full on the bottle shelves). I guess Four Roses doesn't support whiskey polygamy, because the 2010 edition had its name changed to Small Batch Limited Edition (SmBLE) when they started putting more whiskies into the mix. bourbonfoot
And how did you like your first taste of WLW (2013?)It was good. It was my second taste of the BTAC (Handy being the other). I didn't think the proof was overpowering and I can definitely see the family resemblance with W12 and OWA. I would've liked to spend some time with a full pour before making any broad judgements, but I enjoyed what I got for sure.
sutton
I've been experimenting with mingling WT101 with a WTRRSmBSB that hasn't really wow'd me. I've settled on 3:2 RR to the 101 (1.5 oz to 1 oz) and a tsp (5ml) of water. It produces a healthy pour (about 2.7 oz) around 100 proof. The experimenting has consumed about half of my WTRRSmSB, but I like this mingling so much, I'm going to vat the remainder in these proportions and let it sit for a few weeks. In any event, it is better than the RRSmBSB alone, so I'm happy.
zillah
EC12 and then some OF100 and lots of it. Thank god for working at home.
DeadEye09
ECBP is probably like nothing they ever had. Definitely not! I think Dad might have thought twice about the size of his pour after that haha. Bonus points to anyone who can name what the reproduction taillights in the background specifically fit. They look like they could fit the late 80s model Pontiac Firebirds but I don't think that is right...

whiskeyagonzo
On about my 4th pour of some OGD BiB. It makes time pass better at the in-laws. :-)
393foureyedfox
Tail lights for a Fox body mustang?yes, but which one.........they're one-year specificon topic, I just had a pour of HH 6 year 90 proof.....the green label one. No one ever talks about that one. I rarely visit it as I prefer the 100+ proofers. Tonight, it sounded good and really hit the spot. The smell of the empty glass is phenomenal too, just like when you are standing outside the HH rickhouse, with the windows open, waiting for the tour guide to finish talking and let you in that alluring smelling building
theglobalguy
yes, but which one.........they're one-year specificI'll go 85-86. Nothing to drink today, but had some ER10 yesterday picked by local store...just great balanced taste.
393foureyedfox
I'll go 85-86. damn close. I doubt many people on here want to play "name that mustang taillight", so I'll just say it. an '84 SVO Mustang set of taillights, though the only difference in an SVO taillight from a regular mustang taillight is the stripes painted horizontally across the surface, so, technically, you are fairly right. The lenses themselves, sans paint, were used from 83-86 on all mustangs. 84 SVO got black painted on stripes. 85-86 SVO got charcoal gray stripes.for the majority of guys here who dont understand my forum name, a "four eyed fox" is a 79-86 Mustang, the kind with the 4 glass headlights. "Fox" is the platform designation Ford gave to all cars that shared that chassis, and a 393 is a stroked 351 Windsor engine.back on topic, Im now having some KCSB. lovely stuff.... Ravensfire
This working the day after a mid-week Christmas is, umm, less then desirable. Fortunately, there is bourbon to help. A bit of Elmer T Lee to loosen up, Knob Creek SB for the main event and Angel's Envy to close out the night.

TVojtko
Having a healthy pour of EWB in my first ever home made egg nog...WOW! I can't rememember ever having egg nog before, but I've been wanting to try it, so I made a small batch this afternoon.I'm not a fan of 'creamy' drinks, so I went with the EWB just in case I didn't like it (wouldn't feel too bad about dumping it down the drain), but this turned out REALLY good! I'll definitely be having more of this.

zillah
Ah hell, just one more pour....of Russel's Reserve Single Barrel. Either I am drunk or this is a major dissapointment. JonRob
Was in Virginia over the holidays and was very happy to find my favorite pour ER on sale for $26. After opening and tasting I new something wasn't right. It was a very weird bottle, not bad just missing the notes and flavors I love. Almost scared to buy another bottle now that I know these "outlying barrels" exist.
JPBoston
Got my first ever bottle of MM 46 for Christmas... pretty damn delicious considering its price and the fact I'm not the biggest fan of MM. Much sweeter and balanced then the regular stuff. That's a I'll say, for fear of proof-drops and shortages.Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
