Gonna do a comparison tasting between MM and Larceny. I tend to favor HH products, so I'm interested how Larceny will compare.

Larceny is a solid bourbon.....

tonight, went to a dinner with Mrs fox and 4 other chicks. I had a bourbon flight of stuff I hadnt had before, or hadnt had in so long I didnt remember them: Fitz 1849, OWA 107, and Ridgemont 1792. Id have to rank them as OWA, then Ridgemont, then 1849. But, the OWA had the unfair advantage of being proofed in my favorite ballpark. I found a slight mintyness to the 1849.

For me, MM reveals its proof more. I find it astringently boozy but in a pleasant manner. Lots of corn followed by vanilla. Larceny has a soft mouthfeel with a cinnamon and spearmint finish and surprisingly smooth for 92 proof. I like both. I bought some OWA107 today too and have never had it since I can only get WellerSR in my local area. Haven't tried it... yet.

Have had two solid pours of old heaven hill bottled in bond. Bought it for 8.99 yesterday and can't believe how it good it taste. I honestly bought it because it said bottled in bond. I know silly, but oh well. Tomorrow, I will clear out the remaining stock.

that one seems to be in no danger of going away anytime soon. Here in KY, $9 is about the daily rate for that bottle, and easily worth it. The white BIB is a bit better though, for $1 more, but that one is getting hard to find, though its supposedly still being made.

Nice, my open bottle is a soot-bomb.

You definitely get past the soot if you keep drinking it, but man, soot is definitely the overriding taste.

Since its labor day and before noon I'm going to have a fat pour of ECBP. Go big or go home.

Having a little Smooth Ambler Jawbreaker this afternoon while playing some Madden. I am so bad at video games, but I am pretty good at drinking.

Talked to a friend this afternoon who said he was enjoying a Manhattan made with HH BIB. Said he doesn't usually buy bottom shelf bourbon but this was better than he expected. I said, next time I come to visit we will go to his dealer and check out the bottom shelf. Some of the bourbon down there is just cheap. Some of it is cheap but goooood! A man's got to learn which are both.

Organizing the cabinet I stumbled upon a FRSB mingle from our barrel pick in April (marked the "bottom 5"). I thought I had finished that in Bardstown, so it was a lovely surprise. Bit over 2oz of pure bliss - better than found money :)

Sounds like a great idea. This was my first venture into bottom shelvers other then weller special reserve and antique, but I don't consider those bottom shelf. I'm now on the hunt for others!

My son and his family were in town for the weekend, and to celebrate his new job and having the grandkids here I opened a CEHT Tornado. My goodness I love this bourbon.

Old Scout 8 year BP select and AE. Really enjoyed the OS. I'm quickly becoming a barrel proof drinker. I admit that I don't have the most advanced pallet (ie picking out various flavors in a bourbon). But I can taste the complexity of barrel proof and Ryan likely!

Opened up a bottle of OFSig. For $22 why anyone would buy some of the "craft" bottles just amazes me.

Oh yes! I do like this one. It has a lot of the same stuff that I tasted in OFBB '13 so I was happy to discover this after finishing my OFBB.

On topic, I've been on a Beam kick this weekend alternating between Booker's 2013-7 and KCSB. Both are mighty fine and enjoyable pours.

Topping off a terrific Labor Day Weekend with a thick, neat, pour of WT Tribute. :yum:

Continued to drink more ETL with a couple of cubes of ice. I emptied my bottle of ETL Comm last night with a heavy pour.

Been battling a cold all weekend, so I didn't want to dip into anything too exotic as I simply wouldn't appreciate it. Went way outside my usual, poured some Town Branch over ice, added some Stagg Jr. to zip it up a bit, then Sierra Mist to top it off (hey, it was the only clear soda we had in the house). Actually wasn't too bad. Would not become my regular go-to by any stretch of the imagination, but for a change of pace it was alright, particularly on a hot day.
