Wild turkey diamond for 110. Three deep on the shelf, guess it's still not moving. I was tempted to offer the owner her cost in just so she could clear her shelf space. Maybe next time.

Also passed on a JDSB store select for 40, not a huge JD fan but I do like the SB every so often. Was looking for a gift for my dad for xmas, and GJ is his usual pour so got the Holiday Select for him.

I was very underwhelmed by PHC7, so it is understandable that it is still sitting on shelves. PHC8 on the other hand, is excellent. If I didn't have other bourbon to buy/drink/bunker, I would buy a lot more. A friend of mine has 7 bottles bunkered. I didn't think HWMWND was worth $80+, either.

Saw an ORVW10 for $400 and a Lot B for $449. Neither store had a price on it, so I had to ask, and just started laughing.

That is cheap- around here, PA sold OFBB for $50 and I've found it in NJ for $60.

Yes, it is. I picked up another OFBB for $41 today. This one I was on the list for.

Passed on a FRsmb LE 2014 for $99. Not due to price but I've got a couple already so I left this one for someone else.

PVW23 for $100 a pour at the steakhouse bar at Four Winds Casino in MI. I've pretty much stopped ordering PVW at bars because of the risk that I'll get a pour of some mixture of the real stuff and Weller or some other additive. However, every bourbon I've ordered at said steakhouse has been a 3-4 ounce pour, some of which I couldn't even finish (RRBP at 110 ABV for example). I thought the $100 would be worth the risk if I got a huge pour, but felt a little embarrassed to ask if they were going to give me a ridiculously huge pour of the 23, so I passed even though a I had some disposable blackjack winnings. Went with the much more affordable MacCS instead.

...and this is one of the reasons why limited releases are so hard to get. 7 bottles? Save some for the rest of us.

I'll bet you that it all gets drunk. One bottle was already done within a week. Not to mention, it wasn't one big purchase- that was a bottle or two at many stores.

To me, that's not really the point. Even if he drinks it all, it's still making it harder for other enthusiasts to find it. Just my opinion, of course, and there's no saying that if he hadn't bought it all up it wouldn't go to some flipper. I just find it frustrating to read about people getting multiple cases of bourbon that I have trouble finding a single bottle of.

I think flippers and speculators get more of the limiteds than enthusiasts do at this point in time. I don't fault anyone for bunkering deeply. It's a jungle out there and I celebrate anyone who intends to drink and not (financially) profit. The more they have, the more likely they are to share amongst we fellow travelers.

Passed on some Barterhouse, and several regional selections which were enticing - until I noticed the @#$% taxes they charge folks in Washington. My sympathies are with folks up in this part of the country for sure - if they're trying to curb consumption; it's working (although a shame). Nearly 25% in tax? Anyways - passed on some Blue Spirits Lake Chelan offerings, as well as Dry Fly Distilling (was very close to snagging their Cask Strength Wheat Whiskey - $38 for a 375mL before tax - but over $47 with the taxes). Across the river in Oregon didn't see anything interesting.

I understand your frustration, totally. I've been going through it every fall. That said, I'll bunker PVW and BTAC (the ones that I like) as deep as I can, because it seems like availability gets worse every year. I haven't been drinking PHC8 at home because I've been drinking my friend's bottle when I'm over there.

I left ER17 and THH in PA's allocation when I had the opportunity to buy both, because I'm much more of a fan of WLW and GTS. I figured why not give someone else the opportunity to get some? I hope it didn't end up with a flipper, but you really have no control over that.

If you want to take it offline, PM me. Maybe we can help each other find bottles, if not now, maybe next year. I hope that's not violating the rules.

We appreciate your sympathies our brother of bourbondom.

Now you know why I do so much "online" shopping for certain items. Even with shipping, there can still be significant savings.

Passed on a 1.75 OC 8Yr age stated. I don't need it and haven't seen an 8YR in awhile, might have gotten a 750 but passed on the bigguns.

Passed on this ORVW decanter set today for the very reasonable sum of $6500. Sad thing is, is that this will probably be sold before Christmas as there are so many people in the city with more money than they know what to do with...

That's the one at Park Ave Liquors. I saw it a couple weeks ago. Crazy.

Yep, that's the one. It's amazing how times have changed as I remember when the decanter sets were first released and there were more than a few on the shelf there for $350 or so. Hindsight's always 20/20 but really wish I would've bought at least one.

FRLESmB '14 for $450, Lot B for $650, and GTS and PHC8 for $250, among others. Asked the guy behind the counter if everything came with a bottle of lube. He didn't seem amused. Said I should talk to the owner and that they were market prices. The PHC made me saddest since I haven't found one elsewhere. Oh well ...

I bought a bottle of PH8 awhile back but haven't opened it yet.

I could have bought a 2nd bottle for $89 but didn't since I didn't know if I would like it enough to buy two.

I may live to regret that decision.

Passed a bottle of CEHTBP for 84. I would love to get a second bottle given my first one is quickly getting low but I just don't want to pay that price.

Passed on a squat bottle of Sam Houston. I noticed it didn't have an age statement so it wasn't that old. Decided to pass.

Passed on two Willet Exploratory Cask for $150 and EC 23 around $200. Just not that interested at those prices.
