Memphis
Yup, couldn't justify 62 for the MM cask strength. Picked up the '15 EWSB instead. After tasting side by side with the black label, I'll pass on it next time.

I've been contemplating picking up a bottle of the EWSB for quite some time due to the ravings of it on this board.I have never had the EW black/white labels but I really liked the '04 EWSB when I cracked it a few days back and hard to complain about a SB for $30. I have an '05 EWSB downstairs but supposedly the '04 was better. Maybe I will open that '05 next now that killed my FC103 and have room upstairs so I can do a SBS before I kill the '04. Memphis
really? not a fan? I've been contemplating picking up a bottle of the EWSB for quite some time due to the ravings of it on this board. Last years I enjoyed quite a bit, plenty of oak influence to keep me entertained. This year's however I'm finding nothing special. Reminds me of OC 10. amg
I try to get store picks of EWSB when I can find them. There's usually something more interesting about those than the standard release barrels of a given year. Interestingly I haven't seen a store pick of a 2005, and 2006 is already appearing on the shelves. Now, it's normal for barrels under 10 years to show up (the 2001 I have open now is 9 yrs 10 mo), but 2005 has got to be the shortest release I've seen. DonutsNBourbon
I wish we could find it up here but luckily a local SB'er saw my post about wanting some and offered a trade. I was unable to meet him today but hopefully next week I will finally have one so I can open it and my OWA/WSR with it and try all 3 (have tried OWA before and liked it but not tried the WSR/W12 yet) and mix up a PMP/SB blend.it's about the only "special" bottle I can find around here. no ECBP, no EHTCO. I feel like the first time I had it was the best it has ever tasted to me. it's good, but I feel like it's nothing special now. the SB blend is the way to go with it though, IMO. but if you've never had it, it's definitely one to try if you can get your hands on it. so hopefully you can get it soon!I have never had the EW black/white labels but I really liked the '04 EWSB when I cracked it a few days back and hard to complain about a SB for $30. I still see that around these parts.
fozzy71
.....maybe I should pick up a bottle of the 04 then. I still see that around these parts.I got the last 04 and 05 on the shelf of one of my bigger local stores a week or two back. I am hoping that when I go to replace the HMcKBIB I am trading for my W12 that they have some more 05/04 bottles from the back room, or some 06 bottles, on the shelf. I just like Henry McK BIB much more. It boggles my mind they are the same price. The one thing about the EWSB, you can find it almost everywhere. TunnelTiger
I enjoyed both the '02 & '03 but none after that although I do attribute that to liking higher proofs since then.

Paddy
Ran in a couple of stores in NE and Central Ky today and passed on Sinatra, WT Diamond, Blood Oath, various HW, various Bowman, Blade & Bow (also the 22 yr old), RHF, store select KCSB, WTRRSB, HMcBIB and various other dogs/cats. If one's willing to pay to play, there's plenty of good stuff out there at present. Interestingly, the one thing I had the most trouble passing was a Dant BIB! I may have reached WN (or my pocketbook is just worn out)...

fishnbowljoe
W12 Family Size for $89.99. I haven't tried it yet, but, I'm not $90 curious. That's pretty expensive for a handle of Weller 12. I see you're in St. Charles IL Ryan. The store you found it at wouldn't happen to have two or three other locations would it? If it's the chain I'm thinking of, they started gouging on stuff two or three years ago. I stopped in to look for some Pappy and/or BTAC back then, at one of their stores in another city. I had bought stuff from them before because their prices had always been pretty reasonable. I was really shocked when they doubled the price on their Van Winkle stuff. All they had left was Lot B, and there was no way I was gonna pay $90.00 + for a bottle. Feel free to PM me if you feel the need. Joe

Tony Santana
I saw a bottle of that purplish label of Black Maple Hill, the Oregon stuff. Never had it but by virtually unanimous consent it's foul. Locked in a case, price around $80. Same place had one bottle about half a year ago and then it was gone. You'd think anyone with an Internet connection could see past that one, but a fool and his money . . . .
