I just tried a pour of Van Winkle Family Reserve 12 yr. It is really nice and smooth with really good flavor.

Finishing up the annual Summer trip to Cumberland Falls Kentucky (with a swing through Chicago so Littlesmokinjoe could see Lana Del Rey at Lollaoalooza) with a Kentucky Hot Brown, Chocolate milk, and Blanton's in a red Solo Cup at the park Lodge.  Yo Baby!!!

Enjoying some EC12 tonight. Yes, actual 12. Though I have a stash I purchased before it went away, I've been giving the NAS a whirl the past few weeks. I came across a random 12 two days ago while on the road and decided to open it straight away since I had just finished the NAS. I have to say that I prefer the 12 by a large margin.

Is the new bottle really that different? I missed a great deal on EC12 and I could just kick myself. It was my favorite daily pour. I found a great deal on a handle for $44. I should have bought them out.

Seriously, how different is the new stuff?

A good bit of drinking last night with a friends over. Tonight I'm unwinding after dinner with a GBS PS 4R OBSK and it is hitting the spot.

To me, between the two bottles I compared, the difference was large enough to make a big difference in my impressions of them. Others here have not noticed that much difference but there are going to be different batches out there so it's possible I had one that slanted younger.

To be clear, the NAS is not bad whiskey. It's just that for me, EC at 12 years old hits a particularly near perfect spot that the NAS did not hit. It wasn't as full and rich and complex. But that's just me. Some actually prefer the NAS because the 12 was to woody for them.

ECBP tonight.  Not sure which batch.  Haven't had this for awhile.  Why not?  It's frickin' delicious.  Big 'ol flavor bomb.

I'm with ya, ecbp has the most flavor of any bourbon I've had. However, going with SAOS7 tonight, also lots of flavor.

Just a little EWSB 06 in the glass tonight.

Bit off from past years, but hitting the spot.

FRSB for me tonight, ever pour seems to get a wee bit better than the last.  It goes well with North Woods Law.

Woodinville Whiskey Straight American Whiskey 80-proof.  About 5 years old.

I really like Woodinville's Rye Whiskey.  Bought a couple of bottles when I was in Puyallup, WA, last Christmas.

OF Signature this fine Monday evening. This is one of the pours that never disappoints. Consistent and a great value. Cheers!

Tough Monday here, so I'm on the porch working on my second pour of ECBP (while the rain falls straight down, in sheets).

I've got this dialed in at somewhere around 120p and it is divine.

Went out for dinner with some friends last Saturday to a restaurant that happened to have a bottle of Weller 12. Enjoyed that pour so much that I tonight I brought out an '08 raised wheat bottle of W12 from the bowels of my basement. Damn fine whiskey

Pikesville tonight, honestly trying to kill the bottle. I think I prefer bourbon much more.

It's one of those nights where I decide to pull out some great ones just because. KCSB at 11years old to start. EW12yr old to follow. '14 GTS as the night cap. Life is good. (It's really too dang busy, but it's good nonetheless.)

I wonder if this series has been considered a flop by Beam Suntory or if they are continuing to put out the Quarter Cask and 12yo versions on a regular basis. The one that had Spanish Brandy added seemed to be a one time deal and they did the 6 half bottles in the Harvest Collection but I haven't seen anything else in a while under the Signature Craft label.

Too busy selling Booker's rye for $300 and Knob Creek for $150 I suppose...

I did something similar last weekend: one pour each of PVW15, GTS, ER17, WLW, and EC21 at various points of the weekend.

Leaving in the morning after 3 days at Petit Jean State Park. The views, trails, caves, and water falls were amazing here. Spending some QT with the family was the best part! Brought a bottle of Michters 10 year bourbon that I had never tried before. Probably won't buy another one as this cost $90 and I have plenty in the cabinet that are better in the $35 to $55 range. I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed it though. It was a really good pour during the evenings!
