Same here. I tried a bottle after reading through the Feb BOTM. Now RR 10 has become a regular on my bar the past few months. My local LS has it for 24.99 so it's a good value as well.

Finished off my first bottle of CEHTSmB last night. I really like this bourbon and I'm glad that it's readily available in my area for $35-$40.

I used to love that one. My last bottle was a bit hot though and they now charge about $50 for it here plus the Washington State bend over taxes.

It is now officially off my radar unless I find it out of state for a much better price.

Yeah, at $50 plus your state's taxes (although the TN tax rate isn't low either at approx. 9%), I'd probably look at other options too. Fortunately, I can still find it for less than $40 after tax, but I have a couple in the bunker in case the prices do go up.

I would welcome that 9% tax. Ours are 19.5% + a $2.83 per 750ml surcharge.

[emoji15] Wow! That certainly puts a crimp in the bourbon budget!

Yeah, that was shocking when we were out there last August in Vancouver, WA.  Kinda' put new meaning to "shopping at the green front dairy" - at least that's what we used to call the Oregon State-controlled liquor stores back in my day (big green signs in front of the stores).  Bought lots o' craft beers and wine.  Too bad Seattle is sooooo far from the Columbia River, eh?   :(

Pretty much as you would expect. Very much like WT101 but aged and slightly lower proof. Hopefully there a little more picky on the barrels as well. WT101 goes for $20 here and I've been getting RR10 for $25. Id be willing to pay $30 for RR10 but not more.

It's good not complicated an easy after work sipper when you're looking for something solid but not too complex.

But it's made up to you in other ways.  cough - no income tax - cough cough.

I would welcome that tax if I didn't have to pay income tax AND the 28% effective Chicago liquor tax when you factor in all taxes piled up on your purchase.

True! No State income tax is nice, but they get theirs in many other ways beyond the liquor taxes - sales tax, gas tax, property tax, etc. (And now they are funding mass transit with car tab fees - it's going to cost us $480 to renew our license plates this year for one car).

That sounds like a frustrating one, taxing the ones with cars who presumably won't use what they are being taxed on since they have cars.

We usually stay at least a couple weeks, so I may have to check out those online retailers. My brother-in-law is starting to get more interested in bourbon too, but my wife's sister keeps his purchases reined in pretty good. I may have to have him do some looking before we arrive next year though to get a head start on any opportunities.

Haven't been as active on here lately with the impending move and all but I've been killing bottles to make the move easier.  In more ways than one ;)...

Recently over the past two weeks that is:

1.75 BT Store Pick

BT

Old Taylor 6yr

WTRB03

KCSB Store Pick

JB Select or something like that

Old Forester 86pf

Virgin 7/101

Had two bottles that had only one pour left in each of them and decided tonight was the night to put them down for good. The first one hurt as it was the Booker's 25. Every single pour I had from that bottle was complex and tasted fantastic! Regret turning down a bottle when they first came out before trying it because I'm not a big Booker's fan.

Second bottle to go was Pikesville Rye. But that Booker's!!! Damn I'm going to miss that one.164e52a8bfda3655f058efe3ccb5f0dd.jpg

Hey, elmossle!     Do NOT toss that bottle into the recycling bin!     The sole reason for the excellence of the distillate inside... is THAT Bottle!     Keep it.     Re-fill it with anything.    You'll be amazed at how wonderful any ole ordinary stuff will taste after even only a few minutes in that bottle.    :P

.....Kidding, of course.       But, wouldn't that be THE BEST news ever?    ;)

Wouldn't that be nice. I do wish I had one of those barrels though. I would reuse the hell out of those trying to get every last drop of flavor into whatever I put in there!

Almost for got to mention a bottle of OF1920 got killed off this evening as well. 3 bottles in 2 nights….starting to sound like I have a problem.:(:( And yes I do have a problem…I have a hard time letting go of good whiskey!!! I'm pretty sure a 4th bottle will be emptied tomorrow evening as well, but I will have to see how progress on that one goes tomorrow!

Finished a MM today.  Probably my #1 favorite, along with MMCS.  Really into wheaters recently.  TW was selling these for $18.99 so I have a few in the wings.

Great Price on those !

I'm with you.  Regular Makers Mark is a good staple and I enjoy it quite a bit.  MMCS (and 46) are both good for me as well.

Make that 4 bottles in the last 3 nights. Lost yet another bottle of HH6yrBIB. For whatever reason it seems to be my nightcap pour more times than not and just doesn't last long when opened. Best part is now getting to restock the cabinet with bottles from the bunker!! That is always fun.
