Sour Mash Esq.
Tried EC and OF for the first time today. I like OF better...I think. There was an astringent finish for the EC for me. The OF developed in the glass like some other pours I like. It's not as smooth as some, but the flavor and aroma are in the zone.

Hop
Friends in town for a few days from Western KY and they brought me a surprise. Quite a tasty pour here. Pretty one dimensional but good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
lcpfratn
Ahhh, Grandpa Weller's 4 Grain. OGD114 bottle heading to the Big Blue Bin today, too. Love the bottle and the contents inside. The label is a nice touch too! [emoji106][emoji3]Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I didn't see any Weller on their bourbon list (which doesn't necessarily mean they don't have any) but if any of the rest of the prices are any indication it will DEFINITELY not be cheap. http://husknashville.com/about/cocktails/ $26 for a Belle Meade SB, $19 for a Blanton's, etc.

Harry in WashDC
Tonight is Angel's Envy with ice - lots of both - but I have mixed emotions. While I was at my 50th college reunion the past few days, my wife stayed home and decided to do some cleaning and found some surprising "stuff". When I got home, I was told I can no longer keep my ersatz shelving OR even one, let along seven, bottles of spirit behind the dining room door in the table leaves. AND, these previously undisclosed bottles (CEHT SmB, CEHT Rye, Compass Box Hedonist, Green Spot, 2 OGD BIB, OF 1897) must stay in plain view so I can't move them to the basement bunker(s) - one of which she also found but did not tell me to move because it is under my worktable and takes up no "common" space. FURTHER, I better not buy any more bourbon until at least three (3) empty bottles hit the recycle bin. I am allowed to start with the almost empty bottles (gin, vodka, tequila included thank goodness but not liqueurs or port) and the lesser lights (i.e., LOTS of cocktails are acceptable to use up shelf hogs, for example). The mixed emotions? "Drink as much as you want, responsibly, of course, but no new bottles. I swore off shoes, so . . ." I just came back from several unsupervised days of reunioning at which we had buses hauling us around so we did NO driving on our own. Hence, I am in no shape to consume at levels I am permitted to until three (3) empty whiskey bottles hit the bin. OTOH, AE port finish over ice in a regular OF glass which takes it down to about 40-50 proof is a good "Let's watch baseball" drink. Or four. ASIDE - I wonder if she'll let me sleep in the chair? Edit - See below for the reason I meekly said, "Yes, dear." Edited May 25, 2017 by Harry in WashDC Our 43rd wedding anniversary is 26 May, 2017. Richnimrod
Harry!!!! Jeeeeeeez, let the little lady have some more shoes! Just sayin'.... A little flexibility on this may yield 'unexpceted' rewards... HA! Happy 43rd (a day early)! My and my bride's 46th will be this September....during the KBF in Bardstown, which she nonetheless allows me to attend! What a peach, eh? CardsandBourbon
Unfortunately my dad passed away on Tuesday night. Finally got home last night from getting all the arrangements made with my brother & sister. We decided to toast my dad's life so I poured my wife a glass of wine and myself some Blanton's and toasted one of the best men to ever walk the face of the earth. Going to spend the night at my brothers tomorrow after the services so I'm planning on taking a couple of bottles so we can drink to his memory. My father passed away unexpectedly back in July. Today would have been his 75th birthday, so I've been thinking about him today more than I usually do (which is a lot). It sucks--bottom line. I've been in Spain this week so have been drinking whatever was available in the local supermarket and that was Jim Beam White. I dunno if it's just the weather or whether it's just that it's all that's available but it's doing the job. Cheers all!
