Megan From Jim Beam got back to me with the info on my House of blues knob creek. It was barreled November 14, 2003 and bottled January, 2017. which would make it a hair over 13 years old. Aged in warehouse P on the 4th floor. She had no idea as to why it ended up at my local store.

Southern Distilling in Statesville NC began selling their products at the distillery at noon today. I was there a couple of weekends ago for a quick tour and tasting. Tasted both of these and decided to run up there at lunch to purchase.

Was also interested in their cask strength but after tasting it I wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped. The finish was good but the flavors were very muddled while drinking. It's a five year old which may have impacted the results.

The only thing they are selling that they produced is their White Dog which is good but not worth a bottle purchase to me. The rest of their current lineup is coming from MGP.

What I did purchase was their 10yr High Rye and the 5yr SB High Rye. The 10 is excellent and the 5 is t far behind.

If anyone is interested no reason to go to the distillery just to purchase bottles as it will be in NC ABC stores later this month.

Thanks for the news, Hop. I will be in NC at the end of the month and will keep a look out for these. Do you have any info on the price for them, if purchased at NC ABC stores?

Well today I decided to stop at the liquor store by my work just for fun, and happened upon some ECBP A117!  Usually this store would get one 3 pack case every so often, but today, they got in two cases!  I ended up buying 3.  They were just sitting out on the shelf (usually they are in the case with the "rare stuff").

On my way home from there, I stopped at the store closest to my house, and they had two cases as well!  So I ended up getting another two bottles.  This never happens, but glad to have picked some up.   There should be some left in the north suburbs of Minneapolis, but a few people were looking at the bottles after I left.  So yes, 5 bottles of ECBP is a lot, but it's one of my favorites.  I should be good for a long time now.

Stopped to pick up a few staples today - nothing too fancy, but some of my favorites.

BT, jug of WT101, MM 46, EC SP, OC 8 - got a nice price on the jug of WT for less than 30 bucks so I decided to add on the OC. Good times.

I picked up 3 bottles of WT101 at my local Kroger on their "mix and match" deal for $16.99 on Friday.

I went back today and saw they've raised the price to $22.49.

Technically yesterday but a Russel Reserve SiB store pick from NASA liquor in Houston. They are almost out which seems nuts as it came in a week ago.

I noticed you're in MN at some point. I've seen ECBP around the TC metro area more in the last few months than ever before. I finally got to the point where I started passing on more at fair prices. Seems crazy

Spent the evening helping my daughter and her roommates clean their house and doing a little maintenance to get things ready for her senior year in college. She's excited about the group of gals she's living with this year and we've been working to get the house in good shape to start the year off right!

While I was there I had to drop by the LS that I've picked up some good selections at over the past couple years. I was happy to see they still had a number of bottles on the shelf of SAOS 10yo SiB CS and even happier to find a few bottles of barrel #3822 sitting there!

This is my first store pick of KC. This place always does a great job of picking bourbons. I may crack this open this weekend.

Nice one JC - please post your thoughts on that barrel when you get into it. Although I intend to pick one up this week at some point if I can get that way.

I had some free time today, so I wandered to the Kansas side of Kansas City for some shopping.  I grabbed a couple of OWA 1.0 L bottles, a OGD114, and a CEHT SiB.

I went ahead and had a small dram when I got home from work. It's been quite a while since I've had KC SiB, so im not sure how it compares to that. I can say that this one is very well done. I would certainly recommend it. I may have to head there to grab one for the bunker.

You have a great store there in NASA liquor. I visited it earlier this summer while in Houston.  Small little store on the outside, lined with these private selects.  Jealous.

I am on vacation in Florida and have had no luck finding dusties. I figured that I would try this Puckett's Branch since I don't believe I have seen it for sale in Kentucky; and Kirby Puckett was one of my favorite baseball players when I was a kid. I bought the Wild Turkey 101 because I thought the bottle was cute.

NASA is great. I actually get these from a store called Ly's. Owner of Ly's and NASA are sisters and gets a share of all there picks. For me Ly's is much more convenient.

Good stuff indeed! My favorite small batch from them, had to taste the famous 2013, nope, this one is better for my taste. I share a lot of my bottles, but not this one, hopefully, the wife don't like whiskey ;-)

Cheers!

Will.

I agree.  That 2015 4RLE is my favorite Four Roses bottle - maybe the best bourbon I've ever tried.

Picked these up today. I am very fortunate. I called almost every package store within a 50 mile radius, most said they haven't had it for a long time. However some said give me your name and number and I'll see what I can do. Lowe and behold I received a call yesterday to come pick these 2 bottles up. Super nice woman who owns the store and she has great selections of bourbons, and all things liquor, wine and beer. Makes sense as I think she said she had worked for a distributor in the past. Anyway she has won my business even though she's 15 miles away.  I hope it's worth the efforts.IMG_0390.JPG.b07676d296943396b4fef2c860dc0c2e.JPGIMG_0391.JPG.44742cfa3efbb3e9512070e888c4e3dc.JPG
