Very jealous of the 10+ year Four Roses store picks. Everything around here this year is 8ish years old. Still tasty, but just not quite as good as the 10-11 year picks I have open and are rationing now.

Thank you. I went a head and sent them a email.

If you don't mind sharing the info you get back from Beam, i'm curious as to what they tell you.

Decided to try something new.  Stopped in a local store and they talked me into Kinsey.  99 proof and it says its "made" in Pennsylvania.  Aged at least 2 years.  The store had it half price $25 and the owner said its good with an ice cube to open it up.  At that price Id try just about anything.  I know it is young, but sometime I like that corn bite.  Ill post tasting notes later.

A very kind SB member (you know who you are) alerted me about a store in Maryland that had RY10 available. So I made the trip and came home with a bunch of goodies. The 4R are OESF (almost 11 years) and OESV (a little over 10 years).

That's some fine bourbon you got there.

Grabbed another RHF for the bunker, though I paid a bit more than I'd like at $70 plus tax. It's probably my favorite regular/premium bourbon and it wasn't on shelves here for a year, so I justified the purchase to myself.

Actually bought this yesterday but wanted to make sure I got it home before posting.  Never had the Gold and only saw the one bottle on my travels.

Nice grab on the Blanton's Gold Mike. Enjoy! :D

Cheers! Joe

Yikes. Wasn't that long ago that I picked up a few handles of W12 for $38 (in Plano), which was higher than I had ever seen it.

Don't fret....most of us don't even get 1.75's of W12 in our states.  Instead, we search high and low for 750's that range $30-40.  $80 for a handle isn't a bad deal if you enjoy the pour.

Yup, I'd buy two right now if i came across handles of 12. I'd consider a third since it could years before I found them again around here.

sorry, I didn't mean to bust your chops. Was just lamenting price changes over a relatively short period of time. Besides, I haven't price-checked W12 since I last purchased it.

Pretty pumped about this one.  Knob creek private select picked by the house of blues. I don't know how it made it to the shelf never seen a private select in Ohio before.  Is there anyway to found out the info for this barrel?

I Googled House of Blues and got a number of them in different big cities, like Boston, Chicago, and Dallas. Hadn't heard of them before. I presume it was their special in-house bourbon. Do let us know what it's like.

The house of blues is a small concert venue about a hour north of me in Cleveland. Like you I assume it was for their house bourbon but why did just one bottle end up at the liquor store. How ever it got there I'm glad it did. I haven't heard back from beam yet so maybe later today or tomorrow I will have the story.

Like I said earlier I was very pumped to find this. We are planing a trip to Kentucky in October and a Knob creek private select was number one on the list to find.

Don't know what liquor laws are like in Ohio, but in Texas bars and restaurants have to order through liquor stores. Often on these bar/restaurant barrel selections a certain amount goes to the bar/restaurant and the liquor store sells the rest retail. Assume that's what happened here.

Good question but I think it's cool that you got one. I suppose this was the one that fell off the back of the truck. :-) But however it got there, it's certainly an intriguing find. I'll be interested to hear what you think of it.

That very well maybe the case.

I found it to be a very tastie pour.  Will definitely go to the top as my favorite beam product. A lot of alcohol on the nose but drinks very smooth for 120 proof.

Outstanding! Congrats on a great find!

Speaking of Jim Beam, I found a place that had the Bookers 25 yr. Anniv. by the shot and it was wonderful stuff. It gets four more years in the barrel compared to the standard Bookers (so 10 years instead of 6) and it shows. The flavors were even more intense and it had a velvety feel on the palate. Despite the high proof it didn't overwhelm the flavors, they're so powerful. It's one of the few $100 bourbons I think is worth the freight. Truly the nectar of the gods.

Got back from a road trip to WI, and this is the haul.  Could have been much larger, but ran out of cash...and yeah I know, the Laphroaig is not bourbon but it was part of the haul...and was responsible for me leaving some other stuff on the shelf.

Local just got in a new 4R barrel pick.

I tried to resist.

Fail. :)

They're picks are usually fantastic, so I have no doubts about this one.
