I love the way Elmer starts emerging from the liquid as the level goes down.

Elmer looks to have been under bourbon before you made that pour!

OF 1920 tonight. Definitely getting better with aeration. Still not one of my favorites, though.

After a 2-1/2 week alcohol hiatus due to an antibiotic I was on (rapid heart rate and vomiting didn't sound like a good time), really, really enjoying some AAA 10yr.

Hmmm...That's a good one. Did you visit our fine city or did you make other arrangements? [emoji6]

Ok, this is a fun one. Never had before I picked this up in Kentucky last week. First, it was 9.99 at Liquior Barn in Louisville so wasn't expecting much. Not much nose to speak of.  It's a tiny bit hot. Adding a splash of water opens it up and smooths it out a bit. MC is basic and unremarkable. There isn't even as much corn forward as I expected. GD has much more corn flavor for example . Still, there are no bad or inoffensive flavors coming through. Finish short.

It's different. Would be fine on the patio on a hot summer evening. There is nothing wrong with it. I also picked up JTS Brown BIB for the same price. It's much better. Still, if you are looking for something different and cheap, give this a try.

A fellow SBer arranged a very generous sample. This is a fantastic bottle.

Seeing all this Wild Turkey on Eddie Russells birthday warms my heart.

I saw A wild turkey run across the road the other day, and with Eddie’s birthday, I enjoyed a little RR SiB and some WTRB last night. Excellent stuff.

Ahh.....Mellow Corn....one of my cheap staples.   I keep a bottle in the freezer, for those hot summer evenings.    You must've been expecting a corn wallop, which is not the case, but, IMHO, the corn really shines.

SBS of a GBS EC pick and a store pick 1792RR in the old burlap bottle. The EC is my preference between these 2, the RR is decent but a bit dry which is not my preferred end of the flavor spectrum. Due to allergies I sat out most of March but things are back to normal now and tasting good.

I never thought about drinking it cold. Will try that, thanks.

Neither did I, until a friend suggested it. It's much better out of the freezer, which I typically eschew. With the exception of the occasional  big ice cube,(in a barrel proofer) or in a cocktail, I drink whiskey neat.    I thought the freezer was for gin vodka and Limoncello, but it works wonders for MC.

Today the future Misses and I buried a bottle of EHT SmB at our wedding site. We’ll dig it up after the ceremony in 4 weeks. Gotta love when your spouse volunteers the idea even though she doesn’t drink bourbon. I definitely found a great one! Tonight I’ll celebrate with a pour of EHT SiB while watching the final four.

Get a store pic.  They're bottled at cask strength and are amazing!

Is this a tradition or something you just thought up?  It is a cool idea!

13yo OBSK tonight, not bad.

Cheers!

Will.

The bottle fill and glass do not appear to be in equilibrium.  You are going to have to have another pour to balance things out!

Bought and opened an ER10 today.  An oddity for me as I usually like to "thin the herd" and "not have too many open."  Unfortunately...or maybe that's fortunately....last night I realized I had only one open bottle of bourbon.  Since it was a bottle of Blanton's, I figured I needed to open up the old wallet and purchase some more regular type drinkers (read: less expensive and more readily available).

It has been a while since I had ER10, probably early 2017.  I was looking for something a little lower proof but with nice flavor and a solid finish.  This pour is what I remember ER10 to be and it didn't disappoint.

A very nice Woodland Wine Merchant Eagle Rare store select. One of the best store barrels I can remember.

She and I had both independently heard of it being a southern tradition, but neither of us have ever been involved when someone did it. Fingers crossed I’m not digging this up in the rain while wearing a gray tux!

The family and I are spending an extended weekend visiting my first born at school in Chapel Hill. Nothing much of interest in the couple of ABC’s I’ve tried so far. Brought a 375 with me from home for the hotel. At this rate I probably should have brought a 750.

Currently enjoying the freshly cracked EWBIB.

Dreaming of finding some ECBP.. or going to KY for some Old Heaven Hill BIB or 6 year

The knob creek wasn't as bell ringing as I had hoped. Not a bad whiskey, but the Kirkland expression I had previously was just so stellar.
