Taking it easy tonight so was went for some low proof pours, BH Rye which though much maligned I enjoy, certainly the best 80 proof American Whiskey on the shelves these days that I can think of. Also had a pour of Pogue Master's Select which again I enjoy but isn't worth the current asking price.

How was the ‘13 Stagg compared to the the 2017 ??? Really great tasting, I’m sure you had a lots of fun. Cheers!

Will.

I'm going to be honest and say that 2017 GTS is probably my least favorite GTS (I've tried 2012-2017).

Strange, but I find it somewhat hard to swallow.  It's kind of unrefined and has a fairly intense alcohol component to it.

SBS, the 2013 really accentuates the weaknesses of the 2017.

The 2013 is rich, complex, elegant?, and dangerously easy to drink.  It'll wipe the floor with 2017 any day.

A drop or two of water really helps the 2017, and only made the 2013 that much better.

This is all splitting hairs though.  Both are good pours.

You are not the only one who thinks this.

Don't wipe the floor with it, send it to me instead, ha ha. I love it, sure, it's not the best stagg ever but i'm enjoying it, secured a second bottle.

Cheers!

ER12?  Did I miss something or is this a SPECIAL bottling just for you (J/K)?

I enjoyed a dram of dsculptor's blend - 2xER10:1xStaggJr:1xBT - last night.  Superb, IMHO . . . . .

It’s a local ER10 store pick that is actually 12yrs old and mashbill 2. Sounds like it should be stellar but it’s too tannic for me. Blends in great with Jr. though.

Mashbill 2 ?

I'm confused.

Please enlighten.

If they believe a mashbill #2 barrel fits the profile, they will use it.

Well, at least we know what they're doing with the old AAA 10 yr stock!  :o

Some HMcK10BIB tonight. This stuff still has to be one of the best values going.

Cracked open my first bottle of Hancock’s President’s Reserve last night. I had a pour at a bar before and quite enjoyed it, and last nights dram reconfirmed it suits my palate quite well. None of the scents or flavors are exceptionally strong, but it’s plenty complex and well balanced IMO, very pleasant drinker. I’d expect it will become harder and harder to find like Blanton’s and the other #2 mash bill offerings. My local just got a shipment of Hancock’s though, so I may have to pick up another to stash.

I was in Tucson for a long weekend and picked up one up while there. I think it was 49.99. I intended to have a bit here and there over the weekend at the hotel and bring the rest home. Nothing came home. I will tell myself that the lower proof contributed to that. I haven't seen one here locally in years.

I wish I could find one. I’ve lost track of how many years that it’s been since I saw one in Atlanta.

It’s weird. The TW by us is usually stacked deep and you’ll find it randomly in other stores. One of my locals has always complained about not being able to get any BT, ER or much of any of the other BT/Saz offerings. Last time I stopped in there they had six cases of HPR, but still nothing else from BT/Saz. It’s not a favorite of mine and I’ve only bought one bottle in the last 6 years, but we get it in MD.

A TW employee here in S Car told me that total and BT/saz/AI cut a deal for HPR to be a total wine exclusive. They always seem to have it for whatever reason. Not sure if there is anything to that or if he is just whistlin’ dixie.

Anyway, if it is a favorite, they can he had at my local total.

HPR started showing again in my area (very sporadically) in the last 6 months or so. I bought one and I really like it. I'd like to grab another, but......

Back on topic.... I'm having a healthy pour of my ET BIB/Bib & Tucker blend. FWIW, it's the last pours from these two bottles.

Also and FWIW, it was "dry" hump day at work today. <_< I'll probably be having at least another pour or two later on.

Biba! Joe
