We've had one or two boxes of 3 to sample from. I don't recall ANY that barrel proofed over 119. Most of the time I'm thinking a single drop of water is bringing it below bottling proof in the sample taste sizes used. Each to their own and there are many palettes superior to mine but I'd never do a pick without adding a slight touch of water to make sure the taste profile holds up well. With WT (judge with RB) I'm not sure barrel proof Russell would really be much different? I think it will on 2 fronts: 1). RB is CF, RRSiB is NCF 2) RB is 6,8, and 12 year old barrels—with a lot 6 year. Most Russells is at least 9, some 10 too. If cask strength RRSiB is an option...take my money.

Curtis Reed
Looking for some advice.... My local LS brought in some bottles in 2015 OESO for $69.99. I haven’t had an OSEO before. Would you guys pass? Buy? I love the BT Mash Bill #1 so i’m thinking it might be coming home with me.

Well, I assume you are talking about a Four Roses Single Barrel Private Selection, which is a bit different than BT Mashbill #1. The price is on the high end, but that’s still inline with retail prices in some areas. That is the 4R low rye recipe, cask strength and made with the O yeast. If it’s close to 10 years old, I’d probably buy it.

The West TN distributor has decided to hold it all back until the fall release again this year.

JCwhammie
To me this is a great $30 bottle, but for $25 it's outstanding.

Some of the judges were put out that it wasn't included. At least so I read. It is one of the best bourbons I have had in recent years. All around I think it is a notch above ECBP. Tastes are different I find OF 1920 to be unenjoyable, have had it at two tastings and bought a bottle as well, it's not just not to my preference I flat think it's not good. Yes, Well I don't know what to tell you. It would certainly become quite a mundane hobby if we all had the same tastes and preferences.

flahute
I bought a WTKS just so I could have the bottle. Rumors of KS switching bottle types to something more generic prompted me to make sure I had one of the old ones.

I usually grab my WT101 at $15 a 750, so for a 200ml that’s a bit steep, but 375 I would grab a bunch. Although that label in general was a bit of a low point in the history of WT101. As a self proclaimed Bourbon Zen master, price is always a factor. Should I buy this bourbon in front of me when I can get X amount of my go-to bourbon for the same price? Provided the go-to bourbon is well priced. For me it is in fact WT101 and OGD101 that I send my garbage man employed with. TRUE bourbon zen in my humblest if opinions, is not what you BUY, but what you decide to drink at home when no one is looking. Do you have several expensive bottles from your times before joining us, yet still choose to drink WT101 most often? Then congrats, you’re there. Cheers!
