For no reason in particular, a few years ago on the 4th I decided I should pull out something special for the holiday and landed on a WFE bottle.

It's been my tradition ever since. Last night it was a WFE 11yr that was a Hi-Times pick from a number of years back. Got the ice just right to soften the proof and enjoyed it while sitting on my neighbors deck to watch the fireworks. Our community has its own little fireworks display on the lake and we can watch it from our deck which beats the heck out of battling traffic to get down to the big display in downtown Seattle. Our neighbor has an even better view though so after grilling out on our deck we moved over to his for drinks and fireworks.

Here's a view (crappy i-phone photo):

Cracked open my Clyde May's 85pf on another hot Florida day. This whiskey spoke to me; official Spirit of my home state and bottled in my current home town.
Tastes like apple juice and whiskey had a wonderful baby. Glad this is 85 proof and not 120, this goes down quick and easy.

When is a rain delay OK?  Right after you get your first Buffalo Trace of the night in the middle of the 7th, it begins pouring, you move inside the Infiniti Club keeping dry with a very well stocked bar, and last call is at end of the 7th!  :D  Better lucky than good!

Solid pour of Knob Creek NAS followed by a decent pour of WSR while watching Zion WIlliamson and R.J. Barrett NBA debut in summer league.  Solid pour by definition is slightly more than a decent pour.  ?

Earlier this evening, I had ORVW10, followed by PVW20, then Saz 18. The winner was me. Ha. But the pour I enjoyed the most was the ORVW 10.

Cheers

Start off with some RHF, which was delicious.  Wanted to find something I hadn't poured in a while and pulled out a KCSB pick from 2017 (Discount Drinks) that was/is amazing.  12+ yrs old, middle of the rickhouse - one of the best KCSB picks I've tried.

Stayed at the Willcox Inn in Aiken ,SC  a couple of nights ago.    Great Bourbon selection , but had Jefferson's Grand Selection Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes Cask Finish . Smooched the bartender into a double /triple pour.    Very good.  I'll be buying some of this one.

I’m really enjoying this new Dickel BIB. I’m not a Dickel guy as I generally get the vitamin note. It’s present here but not overpowering. Perhaps too sweet but with a bold cigar it’s pairing very nicely. The 13+ years shows it age but it’s not over oaked. At $32 a bottle I have no complaints.

If you see this in your market and even if you’re not a Dickel guy I highly recommend picking it up. At the price point for what it is you have nothing to lose.

I know it’s good as It’s been my go to.

Had a great bike ride going until I felt a thump thump thump from the back wheel. My tire was strangely bulging on both the side walls and tread surface. Didn't look good so I called in a rescue from the wife. Got home and poured a 1792 High Rye to make up for it.

Bicycle. I ride a lot and have ridden and raced for close to 20 years and I've never had this happen before. I'm thinking it's a defect in the tire (which is not new but is still otherwise in great shape.)

Warmed up with an ER private barrel pick.  It was good for Eagle Rare but now getting serious.  Just poured a CEHT batch #6 and my palate is really dialed into that.  Gonna stay with the good Colonel for awhile now.

How is that Jack Gold??
I havdd a bottle. It's pretty much like normal black label ! Only a bit more sweet. Very easy to drink but not worth the 75.00 price tag.

Breaking out “the good stuff” this afternoon. The US women’s national soccer team won their second consecutive World Cup today. A nice pour of a ps Blanton’s is in the glass now. I’ll be following that up with a healthy pour of 07 WLW. Congrats to this truly amazing team, and great champions.

Cheers! Joe

Looks like I might have to have another pour later on. ^_^ Again, a women’s team comes through. The US women’s national softball team just won the 2019 International Cup.

Cheers! Joe

I've always found considerable draw towards Sauternes Finished Single Malts, I have to say despite my best efforts to avoid Jefferson's this one might get a purchase from me.
