Richdel
Yesterday at work was not the greatest day, so a before dinner pour was warranted. Next up in the on-deck circle was Larceny Barrel Proof B521. A small pour from the neck failed to impress, but I remember thinking the same thing a couple of months back when I opened the much heralded RRSiB. The RRSiB has become a solid pour since then. So I will hold back judgement until I have had a couple more pours.

Other familiar aged MGP aromas (Looking at you SAOS). Palate: Lots of cherry and tobacco. Medium amount of dry oakiness. Slight caramel. Lots of spices at the end. Finish: Medium-Long with lots of baking spices. This is very good aged MGP, that tastes familiar. If you missed out on bunkering aged SAOS and you liked those bottles, then definitely pick one up. If you have a bunch of SAOS hidden in your house, then it’s up to you. This tastes a lot like those old bottles. No regrets on the purchase, but I won’t be stockpiling it. I can’t vividly remember the previous 4 Remus releases, but this seems to be one of the better releases by my memory. I picked a bottle up today and cracked it tonight. I’m very happy. This is great value for a 13 - 16 year MGP blend in this market, some of the best bang for the buck in the game.
Skinsfan1311
I've "almost' bought this one a few times, but never got around to pulling the trigger. I finally did, as it was on sale at a local LS for $35.99. According to the label, It's "Oak & Texas Mesquite Refined" I have no idea what that means. Do they filter it through charcoal? According to the neck tag, it was aged 8 years. It's pretty good but, unless I see it on sale, I think I'll stick with the WT101 and WTRB.

fishnbowljoe
With my open bottle purge over the last few weeks, I had a number spaces available on my open bottle shelf/caddy. Referencing my post in the “Empty Bottle Support Group-2021” thread, “three down”, I decided to pull some bottles to be opened in the near future. Pic #1- My regular go to bottles. Pic #2- My retirement bottles. I thought long and hard about what to open for my retirement. The front runner for the longest time was my Gold Veined OWA. After visiting my other storage facility (numerous times) and going through my bottles there, I finally decided on these two. A 1980 taxed stamped liter of SW Old Fitz BIB, and a 2020 WLW. What better way to celebrate my retirement than with old and new bottles.Three more days. Pic #3- My open shelf once again mostly full and rearranged. Biba! Jazzhead
The storms have came and went and the surf is sparkling in a shaft of sun on the low horizon. The choice is the finest Dickel, namely a Three Chord 12 Bar Reserve that is reaching the end almost as fast as the daylight is. I only had the one evening of it, so I hesitate when giving recommendations to others before having at least 3 separate drinking sessions (due to palate variation). But my first impression was that it was a very nice bourbon along the same lines as OF Statesman, a solid step up from Statesman per my memory (but not as good as 1920 and the two barrel proof store picks I've tasted) at least on the night I tasted it. Like most $50ish Old Foresters (like the 1870, 1897, 1910 and Statesman), my initial impression was that it fell short of the 1920 benchmark, so I just ask "Why bother?" I feel the same way about OF. I really like the OF100, (both the bourbon and rye), and love the 1920. I don't bother with the rest...

CPBourbon
Opened another one of these. I normally have these for my friends that are “somewhat” whiskey drinkers. It’s not one of my personal favorites, although it is easy to drink and anyone can get the vanilla and some Carmel flavors from it. I also always get a little bit of cake cone, ice cream cone on the finish. This Barrel is definitely not as good as the last but my son hadn’t had it and wanted to try it. So I popped it open.

I wonder what changes are in store for ET BIB once we see the new distillate. They claim they’re going to keep the same recipe and same mashbill. I’m skeptical. They’re going to use the same yeast strain? What about cooperage, let alone rickhouse differences? I can’t image it keeps the same profile. I also think the 1L goes away. Time will tell.
