Beautiful day here, sat on the patio sipping my Beam blend with a couple cigars and reading a book. Finishing up with a splash of JBDC.

This afternoon while working, god gave me a sign.

So I did a ladder. Started with WT101, then RR sib, and lastly Revival. 😬

I've been on an unintentional break from bourbon. Just got into a bit of a kick enjoying Italian style Pilsners on the back porch in the late afternoons instead. Well, today after work I took the sink cut out saved from my white oak basement bar countertop, and shaped/sanded it into what will become a cutting board for the grill area. The smell of sanded white oak got the bourbon cravings going, so back to some MM101 and eyeing the OF Statesman next.

A nice pour of OGC BIB.  I think I will follow it up with some Dant.  Low key (but nice) evening.

I’m having a couple of after work pours of Larceny. This bottle is better than the last couple I tried. Even priced at $21.99, I’m still not sure if I’ll pony up for another bottle or not. 🤔

EC SiB store pick after some sausage, pepper and onion pizza. Planned to make cavatelli and broccoli for dinner but my town decided to flush the hydrants and water mains today and my water is brown and looks like tea.

Having a nice easy pour of EWSB in my EWSB stainless cup. This is the 1st one I have purchased in sometime. It’s good for a low proof sipper.

staring at this half big jug of 2016 pre-fire EC12 trying to refrain since maybe last of my pre-fire 12, still have 18.  Went to Cooper which I'm enamored with, and Bowman EC Port finish, a Jim Beam Barrel Select I liked (don't buy it!!), EC10, EC17, WLW, WT101, and nothing hitting until chanced on a dying Jack Black from about 2008.  Finally, something to steer me from the EC12.  This JD is great up front, though little on the after.  Life's goal tonight is to kill this JD.; NOOB's better appreciate sacrifices made for this forum.

You talking about the basic Larceny 92 proof?  HECK!  I thought I was the only person in the Universe who could swear I could taste a difference between a Larceny 92 bought this year from one bought in 2019 (yeah, I have maybe three of those in the bunker).  Maybe this is like the WT 101 KSBW "change" circa 2015-6 when quite a few of us thought the WT had lost its edge and regained it circa mid-2019.

I sure hope so as it means basic Larceny has caught up with what we remember Old Fitz basic tasted like.  QUARE - Is this an indication that the BOOM is OVER?????:o

A dusty Isaac Bowman (Saz/BT/A.Smith Bowman release) 90 proof NAS is in my glass as I type.  THX for the nudge.

ASIDE - The two of us must NEVER EVER sit down to drink together.  NEITHER one of us would survive the event.:P  BUT, what a GLORIOUS STREAK ACROSS THE SKY our combined demise would make.👍

OTOH, mayhap the event would be worth it.😉

Sorry, I’m confused.  HH distillery fire was in November 1996.  Am I wrong in thinking that EC12 from 2016 would be from the Bernheim distillery?

you are correct and astute.  this was typo, jug is 2006.  Many of these surviving barrels were held for EC18, EC21, EC23.  The pre-fire material was really good and we all took it for granted.  Early post-fire EC12 was very similar and still good but when it went to younger, change was huge.  IMO it's gotten worse since then.  Same with the barrel strength, 1st batches were good but later batches not as good IMO.  Same with EC18, IMO current is not as good as decade ago.  As for personal post-fire EC12 inventory, I'm not concerned as I'm still sitting on several gallons.

It could happen, we're only few hours apart.  Though you're city boy and I'm virginny mountain hillbilly, I'm sure there's lot's to share, whiskey and war stories.  I just can't drive home, I'm not good at that.

I was too sloshed to post this last night so I'm catching up.

I was in Healdsburg CA for work so I dropped in on our very own Boss. He and his wife are exemplary hosts.

After a great dinner and a lot of wine we retreated to the whiskey room with the pool table and enjoyed some EWSiB vintage 2005 and some EW23yr from 2003ish. AMAZING. The Boss tried very hard to let me win a game of pool but I suck so bad that I couldn't despite his best efforts!

GW4G (Grandpa Weller's Four Grain) after a beer (Maine Beer Company's "Lunch" DIPA) with "The Perfect Burger" at the re-opening of the outdoor patio at our favorite "after-dancing" bar and kitchen.  Straight from the fridge - YUMMO!  🥰

Fill level in the Hibiki decanter a little low - now where is that open bottle of WSR???   😆

Long work afternoon called for a healthy pour from the garage freezer.

I promise I didn't see your post before pouring this, @smokinjoe! Great minds think alike, good sir.

I think I mentioned that I was a bit sloshed after a night with the Boss on Wednesday. Welp, I totally forgot about one of the great bourbons he shared with me. Going back through photos I spied a Jefferson's 21yr old bourbon. Yep - that is also a great one.
