What bourbon are you drinking summer 2021?

The surf was up today on a perfect last day of summer here at the Jersey shore.    A few hours of  body surfing,  a long walk with the dog and it's time to catch the hour before gloaming with a StatesLaddie.   I[m liking this concoction more and more.

2 store picks; 1792 full proof and Woodinville cask strength. The Woodinville is singing and the 1792 is drinking a little hot. I’m really impressed with my 1st Woodinville. I’m sure it’s much younger than the 1792 but it’s better.

I keep reminding myself age not everything.  I'm bit of age snob, but there's young and even white dog that beats out 12 year olds.

Both the grills are in the garage while the paver patio is under construction, so this Labor Day I sat in the garage on a beautiful sunny day and cooked burgers.  My companions were a couple of pours of KCSiB, with a drop of water in each.  Next year, next month, maybe even next week will de different.....

Made the decision that I actually needed to grill something today so ran to the store. I've got a good lunch for tomorrow too.

a) there's some sub par 12 year in the world

b) try catoctin creek white rye or wasmunds (copper fox) ~127 proof rye. catoctin rye smooth like blantons or Patron.  Copper Fox rye will make the hair on chest look like werewolf.

c) try whites in your neighborhood, you might be surprised

d) if that doesn't do it, you'll need to sample franklin county peach or patrick county plum

e) I've been truely amazed by some youngin' 4 or 6 year olds recently.  Ask whiskeyblender about that.

f) TN not that far from SW VA and I've been traveling lately.  I can come your way for some taste tests

on 2nd thought, you might be right.  Myself and one other are perhaps the only 2 on this board (maybe the world?) that liked Woodford Maple Finish.  I've had many chemical assaults, 1 major, that damaged my smell/taste so I gravitate to more crass.

The Woodinville is 5yrs plus some months old.

continuing the tirade, unfair of me to include franklin country moonshine, it's craft.  I live a couple miles away from franklin county line

 

Movie "Lawless" is semi-factual story from franklin county

 

Series "Moonshiners" primarily based and set in franklin county

 

many stock car drivers came out of franklin and patrick

 

Patrick county produced some, but was important gateway for transport to market of franklin product

 

Franklin called moonshine capital of the world, but other contenders like Wilkes County, North Carolina.

 

Virginia has a long history, the longest in new world as 1st still in new world was in virginia, put in place just few years after settlers hit dirt.  settlers had priorities straight.

Anyway just getting over a self-quarantine. Mrs Redd tested positive last week and I had symptoms whether sympathy or not, but they were slight so i'm guessing because we were both vaccinated.

 

After doing without for a few, a 4R Sib pour from a honey barrel is mighty fine...

It looks like you took my tongue in cheek literally.  Growing up in E TN, and now being an old man,  I've been "exposed" to white whiskey. For my buds it really sux but many friends and family tell me I'm wrong. 

Didn't intend any ill will with my comment, but I prefer a less than good 12yr old bourbon (actually never tasted one I would rate BAD) to any white dog. Thank God we're all different.
