ECSB today and this bottle is just not doing it for me. 2nd pour from the bottle in a week and it’s just blah. Maybe just an off palate. Maybe just an off bottle.

Nothing out of the ordinary tonight, just finishing my second glass of Larceny. Tonight however the wife is in the city having dinner with her girlfriends and I get to   Crank music. Listening to the epic Richard & Linda Thompson 1977 show from London that has floated around as a bootleg for 40+ years. They finally released it officially and to hear it cleaned up after all these years is a real treat for a fan like myself. Without reservation Richard Thompson is one of the best 3 guitarists I have ever seen, and with over 600 concerts under my belt I have seen most of the true monsters on guitar. The scary thing is, as good as this show is, his playing is far superior these days. If you get a chance to see this master of his craft, go see him.

I'll have to check him out.  Monster discography, busy guy.  Only stuff I was familiar with was old fairport convention and some of his collaborations.

Since I now have a back up bottle, I had a couple of pours of Blanton’s this evening.  😁

I'm off work tomorrow so I decided to have a few pours tonight.

Nice random variety tonight ... I honestly didn't plan it this way but only now did I realize it ended up being an "Old" and "bonded" theme.

Old Fitz BiB 9 yr, Old Forester 1897 BiB, and orange cap OGD BiB.

And your other two would be?

Thanks for the tip to explore more... I have some Richard Thompson music but I'm probably underestimating him as a guitarist.

I absolutely love it when something like this happens. To me, it’s proof that there are bourbon Gods, and that they do smile down on us occasionally.😇

I can always teach you how to make your own!   Here's a pic of 3 of our grandbabies folding won ton for our Christmas Chinese dinner:

The other 2 grandkids are just to the right of this crew (out of frame) with their Mom and Dad folding more, too.  It's been a family tradition to teach our kids to work for their holiday dinners.  My mom (whose picture is over my left shoulder holding granddaughter #1 in the Sinatra Suite at the Fairmont on Nob Hill in San Francisco  many moons ago) always said I was too ugly to find a wife, so she taught me how to cook.  Guess she didn't want me to starve to death . . . . .  🤣

What a great tradition. Awesome to see such a close family 😀

Happy New Year, Gee.

Cheers

Yeah Joe, no doubt right!  It's weird, I have maybe 75 bottles open and I was practically doing "eeny meeny miny moe" to pick pours ... evidently those bourbon gods were guiding my hands! 😇

On electric guitar that would be Allan Holdsworth, he of Soft Machine, Gong, etc. check out his playing on Tony Williams Lifetime “Believe It”. Downright scary, Eddie Van Halen’s guitar idol.

on acoustic guitar the great American player Leo Kottke. You have to wonder how he can pour forth so many notes from a single guitar. Check out his covers of the Allman Brothers “Little Martha”, the Byrds “Eight Miles High” and Jorma Kaukonen’s “Embryonic Journey”. For stuff you might be familiar with.

Last night I killed off a bottle of ECBP C917, then that was followed up with a pour of Ironroot Harbinger. I need to open a bottle of red wine to use in tonight's dinner recipe, so that may be what gets consumed tonight instead of bourbon.

Rough week for both, so my Baby & Me stepped out and got a cheese board at our new "close to the house place". She had a carafe or 2 and I had my 1st pour of Old Fitz 8yr. I hate to say it but without being able to score one, the 2oz were worth the $25. Quite good, complex & sweet. Next came my 1st Old Elk. Not bad but light in the @ss after the Old Fitz. Back at home & a fresh crack of MM101 is rockin'...

All yours or just the drums? Not that they aren't awesome on their own.  The stuff in the glass looks awesome as well.

My buddy and I went to Kentucky this past June and he picked up a bottle of this Peerless single barrel rye. He waited to open it until we saw each other again, and that happened last night.

Went back for another pour this evening. Good God is this stuff delicious.

I’m not sure I’ve had a Rare Breed last more than 30 days on my bar.  😋Great whiskey, right there!

You make it to 30 days? 2 weeks tops in my house.
