September 1 officially marks the beginning  of  Oktoberfest beer drinking season.  And, the season always leads off with a Sam Adams Octoberfest.  
 

Today is that day.  This is the best beer drinking period of the year, for me.

Took the day off work today to get a four day weekend and got the yard work out of the way and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is really hitting the spot on a hot sunny day.

I rarely drink beer anymore, but we're on vacation and, when I saw this at the local Costco, I couldn't pass it up.

I love the regular Two Hearted Ale, so I had to try this one. 

It's really, really good!

The good beer season is upon us once again, YAY!!!!! San Adams Octoberfest is top of the list for me since its inception many years ago, seems a bit late out of the gate this year as I usually find it on tap mid August, hopefully it will stay longer? A fresh 12 pack was cracked last night and have already had a few draught pours late August in the bars that are in the know, took a few more calls than normal but I managed to find some, thanks Teds Montana Grill mall of GA, thankfully its appearing most everywhere now.

Picked up a couple 4-packs, 2 years ago and have been drinking one every 6 months since then.

They have evolved beautifully.

For $40.00  a 4-pack,  it had damn well better

The beer drawer was empty so I filled it up today. A couple Oktoberfest style beers made it into the basket. Inspired by the posts here. 
 

I’m pairing this malty delight w this crappy TNF Prime feed. The beer is much better.

Ah, the good ole Oktoberfest! Hopefully you guys overseas don't think that EYERONE in Germany wears the famous lederhosen! ( I know you don't, it's just a joke among my american friends how rip on my every time this year: "You wearing your lederhosen yet?"

Working US hours this week for training, so this was just had at lunch time. Cheap and from lidl. It was very nice, crisp and malty. I'll be getting it again.

Just finished cutting the grass, and in the shade hydrating with a Goat Island Brewing Oktoberfest Lager.  
 

So it seems Goat Island Brewing is in Cullman, Alabama.  Cullman, (according to Wiki) was founded by a German immigrant, John Cullman, and the town has deep German roots.  Perfect for beer makin’!  The most notable person from Cullman is actor Channing Tatum, who was born and lived there until he was six.  Tatum, I further learned, spent some time as a stripper in Florida using the name Chan Crawford in the time between dropping out of college and being discovered as a model, which led to an acting career.  I can’t say exactly why, but I have a whole lot more appreciation and higher opinion for him after learning this…

It's interesting to see or hear from places with german roots. Cullmann was shortened to Cullman I learned by reading wikipedia. He was a 48er, too. There were lots of 48er in Texas I recently learned. I am surprised by the lot of Oktoberfestbeers brewed in the USA and just lately realised that some US-breweries are brewing a "Kölsch"-style ale, which is a beer commonly brewed in the region I'm from. Sadly we don't get much beer from the States, just the obvious big names like Miller or Bud, sometimes Lone Star or Olde Milwaukee, but stuff from smaller breweries is very rare.
