What bourbon did you purchase Fall ‘23?

6 bottles of JDSBBP Rye at $70 each. 127 proof, so the "130+ Club" won't care for it. But the 2 bottles in the upper 120's I've tried were both very good, so I imagine this one shall be similar. Rolling the dice a little picking up 6 of a SiB that has varied for some (my present read is "less consistent than Blanton's, more consistent than HM10"). But I figure at $70 per I can trade it on acceptable terms if I do not care for this particular SiB. A friend in Houston got them. We'll be in Dallas at the same time in a few weeks, so easy logistics...which are never to be despised when one resides on Rum Island.

A local pick of JDSBBP   One of the few picks that I'll buy before I try.  It's one of my favorite barrel-proofers out there and I'm confident that this one will be stellar.   Priced a tad high, at $71.00, but it'll be worth it.

Legit. Expensive. Though I recollect someone here getting a surprisingly good deal on non-allocated stuff there or on a similar site. RRSiB if I remember correctly.

shipping prices suck, like all mail order, but thought the bottle prices were actually pretty good.

Our ABC stores put the third batch of Booker's on the shelf this weekend.  At $89 I really need to reconsider these. I have liked these over the last couple of years, but not loved them. Bakers and Knob Creek 9 seem to scratch my Beam itch lately. 20231009_160205.thumb.jpg.6f959b4403b4fb4e2ca5ef9815aab042.jpg

Picked up a magnum of WT101, Col EHT SmB, and a EC single barrel store pick ( I helped).  Have EW 1783 x 2, Calumet 10, BT x2, OF 1920, David Nicholson 1843 x 2 coming on Friday. All from Caskers.  Good prices compared to here in the Hamptons!!

Geez @markandrex, you’re starting to sound like @Harry in WashDC. Next thing ya’ know, you’ll be finding bottles you forgot you hid in your vehicle. 🫣

While I was out this morning, I saw a RRSR CNF.  At $300 it was going to be a pass.  While out walking the dog, I ran into several of my bourbon neighbors doing the same and mentioned it to them.  Since I have 2 cases of RRSB CNF, I just couldn’t justify the price.
They made me an offer I could not refuse.  The three of them offered $100/each if I would put up one of my bottles and host a SBS/billiard night.  Our wives play bunko so, some night in Nov/Dec we are on!

Yea, I think I'm finally there. Too many other great choices for half the price.

I did some traveling/hunting with a bourbon friend today.  We were hoping for more Fall colors but , not so much.

we drove to Land-between-the-lakes area to check with a guy over there who always had some nice bottles a MSRP (or at least reasonable prices).  Apparently something happened to him as the store is now vacant.
Undeterred we cut down to Clarksville/Fort Campbell area then hit 40E back to Nashville.  We stopped at about 10 stores. He wasn’t interested in these as they were pricey.  I had a pour last year at my local bourbon & steak bar and promised myself that I would find some this year.

i ended up with these.  He had a truck full.

I’ve heard good things about this distillery but I hate their bottles.

Looks like really nice fall colors to me!  Cask Strength, Double Oaked makes them even more enjoyable.

My son lives in the area.  When we were down the last time he had a regular bourbon and a regular rye, both were very good.  I tried to get in on a Sealbach’s select offering but both sold out in 30 seconds.

The double barreled bourbon is on a whole different level.  I would say it has to be in the top 10 bourbons I have ever had.  The one owner I was talking to said there were about 3300 bottles released to 4 or 5 states.  I was fortunate to be with a friend who was loading up his bar so I think his wallet was my entrance fee to the select level.

I believe it is 138.8 proof, slightly higher than last year.

Yowsa!  Sounds like a great by-the-outdoor-fire  bourbon for the Fall and, hopefully, a mild winter.
