Haven't decided how to break in this weekend yet...SO I'm here looking for ideas. :)

Might I suggest bourbon!  I am fond of anything Turkey but Knob Creek is always good!

All the Distiller talk plus comparisons to KC led me to mix a cocktail. Carefully measure 1 part ice, 1 part KC (preferably a good SP), and 1 part Distillers Cut. Let simmer for about 1 minute-then enjoy! Yum yum fresh roasted peanuts.

Enjoying a couple of semi-oldies this fine evening, PHC Promise of Hope and a PHC Barrel Finished. After these two, I have a single PHC left (another PHC POH).

A way to stretch the remaining JBDC - that's a good idea.  👍

After emptying a couple low-fill Bourbons within the last weex and, after seeing Face Plant's Pic a few posts above, I decided to open a Jim Beam Distiller's Cut for the rotation.   I had a small pour after cutting the lawn, and another over a small cube a few minutes ago.   I hafta say, this is a damned fine pour!   A really rich mouthfeel, full bodied and right in the Beam wheelhouse, which to me is always better at higher proof and/or with more time in a barrel.    I think I'll sign off here and pour one more nice one neat of JBDC.   I'm burning through it faster than I'd like; but, I have a few more backed up, and Bourbon is for DRINKING!

Welp.....some New Riff 8 year BiB in the glass to help ease the pain of a tough start for the Caps.  Hopefully my other Washington team will fare better tomorrow.

The cat isn't to thrilled with the game either 😆

Pretty kitty.  Looks to be young.  What's the story behind the stadium seats in the background?

Thanks!

She's 10 years old.

Years ago, they yanked some seats out of FedEx field. My Goddaughter worked for the Skins at the time and snagged me a pair.

I also got a piece of the original Jumbotron when they replaced it...

had a pour of a ECBP store pick at 130.6pf last night to cap off a successful weekend hunting trip. Took my 8yr old son along for the first time and he got to experience what it is all about. It was an added bonus that I was able to harvest a deer yesterday morning.

Fine pours, indeed!  Promise of Hope was an eye opener for me, unfortunately long gone from my bunker.  But fond memories!  Cheers--and hope you enjoy!

Qm

mWhile nothing to write home about, it’s a nice pour, nonetheless.

It's a turkey double header tonight. Smoked turkey breast and some delicious WTKS.

VW Lot B was really hitting on all cylinders last night.   So much so that I had a second.  Haha

This is not one that I typically love, in fact I prefer ORVW 10 as I know others do as well, but it tasted great last night.  The bottle is about half full.  I have been thinking more and more about fill level/oxidation and its influence on taste recently.  I guess it started a few months ago after I had the last couple pours of a bottle of Pappy 20 that sat with only that much left for maybe 9 months or so.  It tasted flat and without depth.

Some WLW the day after my first cataract removal with lens replacement, right eye down, left eye in a week.

Outside of a headache, very pleasant.  Only flashes of light during the surgery.  I was driving today.  The liquor store staff looked at me strangely as I had popped the right lens out of my glasses to allow for the changes.  It is remarkable to think that in about a week I will be without glasses for the first time in about 55 years.

Cheers!

On a work trip out of town. The hotel pours is from my flask bottle which had a bit of WT101 and I topped it off with VOB 100 before leaving the house. This makes a very nice blend, both components stellar on their own yet they also play well together.

Yup!   Not every 'nice' pour goes well when mixed with another 'nice' pour; but, once in a while a blend such as you've tried here does work.   "Once in a blue moon" one can even strike 'gold' trying this sort of thing and obtain a blend that exceeds either of its components.    Doing small trial blends like this can be fun, even if it doesn't yield a big winner; and the chance at a fabulous outcome makes it a gamble worth taking, IMO.

I've had a few that worked out really well.   One that comes to mind is this: OGD BiB mixed with Old Fitz BiB (not those new high-end decanters just the old-time cheapo stuff), 60/40 in favor of OGD.   It came out with a slightly sweeter-but-still-spicy mixture of the best of both.

I dug to the back of the bar and pulled out a Blanton’s.  By the dust layer, it has been awhile.  I poured a large glass while the wife is adding some Halloween decor to the inside of the house.

The theme was Sazerac brands last night at bourbon group. Lots of really good bourbon.
