Was having a hard time with this ER 101 in the eagle decanter, you just never know what's going to come out! Could be corked, tainted..you know BAD!

Well I took it upon myself to decant it into glass tonight...and well some slipped into my glass! Not sure why it is but the first pour out of these decanter is (in the words of Robert Smith) "Just Like Heaven".

Yummy! I hope I never run out of the ER 101!

Tony

Ditto !!!

I just decanted one of these as well. It is my first ER from Lawrenceburg.

Holy Crap !!! This stuff is good:bowdown:

Spring 2003 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon. This thing has been open for at least 4 years. I gave this bottle to my dad a year or so before he passed on, a few years ago. We had our share of drinks from this bottle together. He would have been 80 today. Here's to you Pop. It's still good!

Started by finishing off our ER101 (so sad), then Stagg 08 at 101 proof, then Old Fitz Prime Bourbon bottled in 92, then WLW SR from 87, then WLW BTAC 'o6, WIld turkey 101, J.T.S Brown BIB, Old Forester BIB, and back to WLW o6.

A vatting of Buffalo Trace and Very Old Barton BIB. A nice combo in the glass...I hope it's a nice combo in the big picture.

I enjoyed a generous pour of '08 WLW and a great visit with my son and his family on leave from the Air Force.

Living (if you can call it that) on the road this week... it's been mostly KC at the hotel bar every night. But tonight, went to Ruth's Chris for dinner and enjoyed some Blanton's.

Four Roses SB. Coming to the end of the bottle and may leave the last couple of pours sit for a month or so before deciding to replace or not.

We had a 22 degree swing in the temperature today.

From 12 below this morning to 10 above this afternoon.

So I am warming up with some Old Rip Van Winkle 10yo 107, neat.

I'm staying warm with a little WLW08. By itself it good, but in two past sip-offs with GTS08 it always seems to come in second even though I'm a wheater.

I'm doing a WT showdown:

1990 8 yr vs. Old #8 1992 vs. 1996 12 yr split.

It will be a good night !!!!!

That sounds like fun... Any early news on the rating?

It's a Van Winkle Night.

Starting with the ORVW 10, on to Lot B, Pappy 15 and will end with a short Pappy 20. I still have an unopened bottle of Pappy 23 from our brethren at SB.com. It will remain that way, I'm pacing myself.

The 23 still eludes me. It is my white whale, the holy grail. icon11.gif

Man, they are all good !!!!

Nose, I prefer the 12 yr. lots of vanilla. the old #8 comes across really grassy.

but the 8 yr has the best taste and finish. long and spicy.

The 12 yr has a great flavor, but the finish falls short.

I will need another round to be sure !!!!
