ratcheer
Can't beat that, Tim. Sounds great! I've been meaning to check out Colleen McCollough for some time now. What do you think of the book?It is excellent. Her mastery of fiction is a given. It seems that she is also considered an expert on Caesar and ancient Rome. She has written at least three novels based on Caesar, all of which are available at my library.Oddly, maybe, she was originally a neurophysiologist and established the leading such hospital in Australia.Tim
OscarV
We are a couple of days into Autumn I started this thread on September 25 with the word "Autumn" in the title.Someone changed it to "Fall".Which is OK with me, I feel that whoever had the power to change it to Fall over Autumn has a good reason.I would just like to know what it is because maybe I'm not with the lastest jargon or it might have offended someone, like I said I just want to know for the heck of it.On topic, Willett Reid & Emerald XVII-3 144prf, neat. To me, the 2010 passes the first year 122.6 as my favorite iteration, so far.

kyrocklover
Tonight was one of the few nights that I could set outside and enjoy what is left of the late summer/early fall. Tonight was a night to relax and enjoy.I picked out four bottles to sample and compare with no real end game in mind. I am not a professional taster and readily understand my taste is not what enthusiasts will note, but what the hell, they are my taste buds. The four were MM, 4RsB, Wathens and Elijah Craig 12 YO. As I sampled each with no set agenda, I noticed this, the taste amoung the four varies greatly but yet not so greatly. I expect this is due to the similar proof. Wathens is sweet on entry, mild mid-palate and slightly spice on end with a good finish. In all honesty, of the 100 or so bourbons that I have tasted, this really hits the spot and ranks in my top 5. If this was 100 proof, I would expect this would be my favorite by a long shot. Elijah Criaig is great. Nose, taste and finish are to be appreciated. 4RsB is much the same as EC 12YO with a different taste profile. MM brings up the end. Nose, taste and finish are good, but lack in longevity. While a good bourbon, it does leave me short in nose and taste. As of tonight, I would rank these four.1 Wathens2.3 EC 12 YO, 4RsB4 MM
nor02lei
I had white dog, 1 year and 9 years old MM at Stockholm beer and whisky festival yesterday. It was unfortunately at a very late hour and my taste buds were half asleep. The white dog did seem very neutral at 80 proof though. I did unfortunately have some OGD 114 on the late train back home as well after drinking all day.Do I have to mention that I have a bad hangover today?Leif

I have to ask, Leif. What is the Swedish "cure" for hangovers? We Americans tend to eat a greasy, fat-laden breakfast of some sort. I'm sure the Swedes have a variation on the same theme. Hope you feel better.

nor02lei
Bulleit 90 proof and Blanton’s silver before dinner. It was the last out of the Blanton’s and it has changes a lot by oxidation over time. The nice refreshing orange peal taste from the beginning has diminished to a minimum over time and it became more and more uninteresting. I have replaced it with an uncut Blanton’s though. I did have the last out of my WT 12 export bottle with some very nice fruity dark chocolate that I brought home from the Stockholm beer and whisky festival yesterday. Real nice indeed and I have always considered WT to be a good chocolate whiskey.OGD 114 as a nightcap right now.Leif
