cbus
Had some Woodford Reserve Double Oak tonight as I read through what was likely (hopefully) the last article of my undergraduate career. Fittingly, it was on the Whiskey Rebellion.

Flyfish
My wife an I like our cocktail hour to have a theme. Typically that means having a glass of related bourbons: OWA and Weller 12; OGD BIB and OGD 114. Today it was AAA and ETL. She thinks we need to buy a handle of AAA instead of a liter. (Oh, gee, dear. I don't know. Do we really have to buy AAA by the handle?) Meanwhile I'm thinking the ETL is mighty good. The downside is, BT doesn't list any specific information about which barrel the ETL came from. Nor ER, for that matter. So, if I want another bottle from this especially good barrel, it's pot luck. Guess I'll have to trust Mr. Lee to keep picking good ones with a similar profile.

clingman71
BT SOP #10, sweet to start, a little fruity, then the spice kicks in. There is something in the flavor that I can't quite put my finger on, but I like it.

CoMobourbon
On the last few pours of a (no joke) Hyvee single barrel selection of BT. It's interesting in that I think it pretty closely parallels the standard BT bottle in basic profile but at the same time manages to amplify all of its most distinctive charactaristics that define that profile in the first place. That grassy, earthy, pseudo-smoky flavor (which I enjoy), though still reasonably under-control (balanced by more traditional bourbon flavors in the background), really takes center stage. CoMobourbon
On a related note, the Hyvee liquor store has quickly become my go-to place. They have the advantage of their capital/infastructure/connections that enable them to move more product at relatively lower cost, but the guys who run the liquor department clearly know their stuff pretty well and keep the selection as sharp and interesting as any grocery store I have ever seen. This combination means good bang-for-buck without too much compromise in selection. I always enjoy what I get, and I don't have to walk away from the high-priced stuff as often. It's the best! (Insert Hyvee jingle here).

ShewDawg
Enjoyed some Hancock's President Reserve, a Liquor Barn special. Not sure I would buy it again (definitely wouldn't at > 40) since there are still so many bourbons to be had.
Flyfish
Four days ago I described my OGD BIB & 114 experience as "bleh!" even though they are regular pours and usually quite good. Today, they are ba-ack! Thank God. Tasting great again. There's a lesson in there someplace.

clingman71
ETL CnB #18, OWA CnB #54, and AAA 10yr. The ETL has opened up so well that I'm going to miss it when it's gone. As with AAA, it's rather thin, but the flavor is just so damned good.

kyrocklover
Old Ezra 7YO 101. I wish I had bought the other two bottles the store had. Excellent bourbon, especially compared to the price.
