c2walker
Major difference here is they CAN bottle more in the near future (since they seem to have ample supply to EC12) but it would technically be a different batch. This is not what I have heard. We all know that distillery reps aren't always (or even usually) accurate, but I was told by a NC HH rep that I should expect increased prices on standard EC 12 to rise in response to demand far outpacing supply. Josh
Even at $10 more, EC is still a bargain.
bllygthrd
Here in WV, and according to the State Liquor website, only 3 stores ordered EC BS. I think the 3 bottle cases confused two of the stores as they only ordered 3 cases (9 bottles) ... the last store ordered at least 7 cases ... I counted over 15 bottles on his shelf after I bought my 2.

Jackinbox
More landing in ky this week. Approximately 60 cases (3 packs) for the entire state (including on premise). Still do not know if it is a new batch or not. My reps allotment was 6 bottles and he has most of the bardstown stores. Our allotment = 1 bottle. A single bottle does nothing for us so i passed. Told him to send it to someone else and to send us more parkers when it comes out.

Means less of the standard EC12, but with the difference in price i imagine more profit for HH, so would think they'd go that route.
JVande
Just opened my bottle of ECBP the other day, and without a doubt the darkest mahogany bourbon that I own. After reading multiple reviews of it being all around HOT, I was pleasantly surprised that it was not as HOT as I was expecting. Maybe I was just thinking that it was going to be GTS Hot! I picked up brown sugar, caramel, chocolate, some sweetness, with just a hint of wood. Call me crazy, but I got a couple whiffs of the FR profile on the nose. I added a few drops of water after trying it neat and did it ever turn cloudy. Overall, I thought it was complex and evolved nicely with some air time in the glass. Glad I picked up a few extras... zillah
PA's website got another allocation. If anyone is from PA and want another chance to get their hands on this stuff, I suggest you get it while the gettins good. Thankfully, there is a 1 bottle limit. I hope they do this with the BTAC and Pappy in the fall.http://www.finewineandgoodspirits.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SpiritsProductDisplayView?level0=null&level1=S_Bourbon&level2=&level3=&level4=&catalogId=10051&storeId=10051&categoryId=null&productId=1596376&langId=-1&prodlistCatId=Spirits&parent_category_rn=SpiritsI got mines.
P&MLiquorsEric
It sounds like my chances of finding it this Saturday in the area of KY bordering Cincy are about nil. :frown:same batch, 134.2 proof. good lucks!

bllygthrd
Maybe I was just thinking that it was going to be GTS Hot! I never found GTS to be hot ... maybe it's just my old tired taste buds ... nothing works like it did when I was 21!
P&MLiquorsEric
So just stuff being held back by the distributor?Doubt it since it was gone for so long. Chances are heaven hill held it back and sent out a bit more. It flew off the shelves and the one bottle on premise allotments went quickly. I'm betting it was more to refill on premise accounts which means some will make it to retail.
tigerlam92
Won't this just continue to increase shortages unless they do a new round and increase output to meet demand. I would imagine each retailer needs 10-20 cases. And for the consumers, it would be better if we can see them sitting on the shelf for at least 1-2 months instead of 10-30 minutes. tigerlam92
Anyhow, I'm glad they have a little more for people to try. This is a very good offering from them.

You release if periodically, it gets great press and appears on non industry must have lists. The goal is to get People (but not those on this forum of course) so desperate to get it that they buy up anything with the name "Elijah Craig" on it, it's younger brother product "Evan Williams" shares the same mashbill and "is basically the same thing". It's sales are helped as a result. We have seen this work before. I don't have any inside knowledge but the proverbial road has been cut and paved, surely someone else will drive down it. cowdery
When they put these things out, they genuinely don't know what will happen. The nice thing about this product is that they can allocate between the standard and barrel proof expressions pretty easily. The first thing that happens is distributor orders. It's up to the distributors to anticipate sales in their markets. Heaven Hill can't ship it if it's not ordered. Based on initial orders, Heaven Hill does the initial bottling run and sends that product out to distributors. Presumably it produces a bit more than that, but probably not a lot. Better to leave the product in the barrel than have it taking up space in the finished goods warehouse. Then, hopefully, the reorders start to come in. If they exhaust the stock they have, they'll have to bottle more. Unless they have no more available to bottle, in which case they'll have to wait until they do.Distributors who ordered too little or too late will run out before more becomes available, but that's rarely all distributors. In a situation like this, it's good to let it be known where bottles can be found at retail because, flippers notwithstanding, retail reorders form the basis for distributor reorders and distributor reorders will determine the size of future batches. Ultimately, the only thing that defeats flippers is ample supplies at retail.Trust me, Heaven Hill does not want this product to be scarce. A product that everybody is pining for and nobody can get doesn't put a penny their pocket. Edited July 12, 2013 by cowdery
theglobalguy
Chuck, a year or two ago i would totally agree with you. The past year have shown anything with a special hang tag, funny colored label or annualized release fly off shelves across a wide range of locations. Understanding they applied for labels long long ago...from the time they set the production/bottling schedule they HAD to know it would sell out?I would have to think they'd have enough history with EC12 at the least to make a better guess than they did. P&MLiquorsEric
It has been available at the gift shop for at least a year. They knew what they were doing. EC 20 and 21 were risks at the price points they were at. I can't think of any recent flops in the super premium category in bourbon. Jeff21 has been widely panned but if went quickly around here. PHC is still on quite a few shelves as well. I'll still keep looking.
