This chilly evening calls for something very comforting. Having a nice healthy pour of some OGD 114.

My first pour of OFBB 2013 tonight. It's got a great nose and is pretty intense. One of the things that I like about OFBB is the complexity. Add a touch of water and it mellows a bit and opens up. A very nice pour.

Started with a pour of Dickel 9 year old. More so than any Chardonnay I have ever had, that is a butter bomb. Followed that up with a bit of WFE 8 year old. Finished off the evening with a small pour of a mix of Maker's and Maker's 46 (I had about a third of of bottle of each, so I poured them both into a decanter).

Ranger Creek Rimfire… I don't get any smoke or flint, but there's plenty of dark chocolate. This is a very unique whiskey and only mildly interesting.

I've had pours of different SB blends the past couple nights. 3:2 OWA:W12, 1:1:0.5 OWA:W12:FRSB, 2:1:0.5 OWA:W12:FRSB. They are all just really good. Can't pick out a winner because they're all really enjoyable.

Wild Turkey 101...by the 1.75l...with a screw cap. It might be time for an intervention. The first step is to omit that you have a problem and that problem is that it is so good!

Some 4RSB OBSK, which I didn't care for as much as some others when diluted to 100 proof (to level the playing field), but at its full 121.6 glory - really a great pour!

Buffalo Trace tonight. Last night I finished a tiny bottle of MM and then had a small pour of MM46 for comparison. So far I've had:

BT

MM

ECBP

WSR

W12

EWSB 2003

FRYL

Are there any gaps in family/distilleries/mash bills that I need to fill? Just to get a more "rounded" experience before I attempt any higher-end offerings.

All help is appreciated, this place is the best for knowledge. Cheers!

You need some from the Barton, Beam, and Brown-Forman distilleries. VOB BIB/1792; Baker's/Booker's, Beam Black; Old Forester Signature or Woodford Reserve.

Last night was Stagg Jr and ECBP each with a fair splash of water added.

Previously I gave the edge to the EC, but the Stagg was ahead last night. Both have been open on the bar for some time.

Starting to look at tonights lineup.

I agree, the Stagg Jr does show well in a comparison, B. In my opinion, it doesn't take a back seat to ECBP. Both are really good whiskies.

Ive been eyeing the VOB and the Old Forester. Of course, both have a pretty low price so I should be able to pick up both!

Might treat myself to a store-pick of FRSB tomorrow after my graduation ceremony.

Old HH 8, WT101, to Henry McKenna BiB (x2) ... the McKenna was barreled 2001; older style label. Rich, gentle spice, caramel coated cherries - I usually add a drop of water, but the McKenna did not benefit - became less interesting (reduced mouthfeel) and a little bitter. Better as it is right out of the bottle. Wish I bought two - I have a Julio's store pick on deck.

Having my first ever pour of George T Stagg. This is also my first well-aged bourbon (prior to this, ECBP was the oldest I've tasted). So far, so good. I expect it'll take a few pours before I fully appreciate this, but it's already better than I expected.
