tigerlam92
Hugh, where would you rank Barterhouse and Old Blowhard in comparison with PVW20?Sorry, my taste buds are really weird lately but I could do a SBS in the future.Just from initial impression, coming from a guy who is obsessed about PVW and SW, and PVW 20 was one of my favorite so I was thinking it would be completely different and overwhelmingly better but that is not the case tonight to my surprise. 393foureyedfox
some 90 proof green label HH 6 year tonight. On those nights when I just want a fatty of something before crashing, this is the one. Straight, simple, good, and cheap. I think it has the most attractive label, too, for a cheap bourbon....something about that catchy, yet simple, green/white/gold label. And when you're done drinking it, the smell of the empty glass is even better than the drink itself.I snuck this in on a blind tasting over a year ago, and it came in about 3rd. Not bad at all for a $9 bourbon! The local pharmacy was clearing out their HH stock last summer and put them all half price. I grabbed a 1.75 for me and one for my friend, and they had a rebate on them as well, which put it at about $5 for a 1.75. I shouldve grabbed the other two, but left them there. For some reason, I prefer the 750 size bottles over the huge 1.75's, even though its a better deal for the 1.75's usually.
flahute
My wife made Shepherd's Pie as a prelude to St. Patty's Day so I thought I should drink something Irish and chose Jameson 18yr. Well, my bourbon drinking palate did not appreciate the Irish whiskey tonight for some reason, not sure why. I'll probably move onto the SB blend to save the evening. JPBoston
The wife surprised me with a fat pour of BT in a glencairn, with some nice Irish cheese and sliced strawberries on the side while we watched House of Cards.Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
squire
In this case the bourbon of the moment is Old Grand Dad.Coincidentally, I can say the same thing.

393foureyedfox
Opened and finished a bottle of the HH grn 90 this weekend. Quite enjoyable opened and finished? It must have been quite enjoyable. I think this gets overlooked just because it is always on the bottom shelf and priced the same as the real bottom shelf. Is there much HH in GA? If you're coming to Bardstown next month, you can grab a whole case of the stuff for right at $100.

Since I got such a late start dinking Bourbon in life I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do.No there is not a lot of HH labels here. I would imagine Atlanta is covered up with them. They seem to get all of everything. My area is basically a vodka/tequila crowd.

393foureyedfox
this is one of those nights where the Dickel 9 year is just awesome!though it's known this is my favorite, some nights it just doesnt do much for me, then there are nights where it is perfection, and wouldnt trade it for 10 of anything. Kpiz
EC single barrel selection from K&L. Darn good, and a little more sprightly than other batches of EC I've had.
Vadertime
Had a few pulls from a 06 bottle of BT that has been opened for about 3 years. It is VERY solid bourbon, but not all that interesting to me. Maybe the middle ground is not where I want to stand. Maybe I was just in the mood for something a little more unusual? Tony Santana
Last night I went from to 4R SmB to 4R SB, then CEHT Single Barrel. I've had a bottle of the latter unopened for awhile now, but had never tried it. Wow. Loved it. Nose was great, the finish was great, and everything in between was pretty darn swell too.
