TVojtko
Passed on a Crater Lake Rye from Bendistillery out of Bend, Oregon. It was a good looking bottle with a nice write-up about "small family brands" on the back, but there were a lot of other MGPI Ryes available for less $$. Kinda wish I would have grabbed it just to try for sh#@'& grins, but it was only 80 poof and sitting between Rittenhouse and Dickel, which I really like , so I had to pass. portwood
VW12 lot B, Cdn$90.I already have a bottle so I'm not willing to line-up in -10C temps to get another. May buy one if some survive the weekend on the shelves though.

jeffrey r
Had a Beam Signature 12 Year at $35, and a Medley Brothers (4 years old) at $22 in my basket, and put both back. Picked up a 10 year-plus EWSB at $23 instead of either.

Chargerfan
I was passed on some handy rye and 199.00. I asked if they had any other hard to find bottles. He showed me a Pappy 23. I asked how much and he told me 1299.00. I then handed him the three other bottles of misc spirits I had already pulled off the shelves, probably close to 200 worth and told him he just lost a long time customer and will be spending my $ at another store. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalkgood that. No problem with a slight markup on HTF stuff, but thats crazy....and big Thunder Dan fan from PHX. Dont let them talk ya down. May buy one if some survive the weekend on the shelves though.I underestimated the demand for pappy look-a-likes. LCBO sold all 114 bottles of it as soon as the doors opened. It seems in today's hyper demand environment for pappy, when the real deal is unavailable, people will buy up anything else that has "winkle" on the label.ORVW 10 will be released Feb 1st, similar number of bottles. Good luck to "pappy" hunters in Ontario.:toast:
mosugoji64
Passed on a WTKS dark top, WSR 7yr, and an old-label RR10. Any Turkey fans care to comment on whether the older label RR10 is significantly different from the recent stuff? Worth going back?

WAINWRIGHT
I have never found any difference in the RR old vs new label but if that WTKS is from 05 or before I'd be on it,the last one I had was very good.
smknjoe
I was cleaning up my PC and forgot about this bottle that I took a picture of a couple of months ago. It's a 1.75 liter bottle of BT. I already have a couple of different single barrel picks so I passed on it. Have you guys seen this one before?
jwacky
Passed on some age stated 1792 Ridgemont Reserve. Although the statement has since disappeared, I couldn't find anything written about the 'old' stuff to make me feel like I needed to grab any of it. Balchinian
Passed on WTRB wt-01-99. Same price as others on the shelf, but had black wrap around the neck (all others had clear neck wrap). Anyone have experience with the older WTRB compared to current offering? I know many others prefer the older WTKS....
smknjoe
I can't compare it to the current bottles, but I like the 99 batch quite a bit. Classic Turkey.

Although the statement has since disappeared, I couldn't find anything written about the 'old' stuff to make me feel like I needed to grab any of it.I passed on the same...store had about 6 bottles, all age stated and I left them all.I've never had it, so I'm not sure if I was leaving behind something special, but for roughly the same price as EC12, I didn't feel that it was a 'must have' just because of the age statement. I'd rather have a better bourbon even if it's something that's regularly available. Screw rarity if the bourbon isn't all that good in the first place. tanstaafl2
Passed on a fair amount of BTEC at 54.99 each. 15yo standard stave drying time and 16yo hot box toasted barrel editions. Already have the Hot Box and it is pretty good but not tried the other. But they are pricey little buggers!
WsmataU
I don't know. I go back and forth. It's an ethical quagmire.I don't think it is a quagmire at all. Retailers have every right to ask whatever they want for a bottle at the risk of losing customers. Flippers are breaking the law, so you're already over the "ethical" line.I'll caveat my statement with a differentiation between flippers that sell stuff available at retail and "collectible" bottles that are out of print. The only issue I have with those guys are the ones that mislead buyers about exactly what they are selling, but Caveat Emptor, right?

bin31z
ORVW only cost me $50 x 9 and I got a 10% discount so it was about $440 or so out the door. Plan on drinking 3 bottles, gifting 3 and leaving a case in the bunker. I just can't see myself paying 150 bucks for 1 bottle of anything since I'm not a collector.
