Max Power
I grabbed a Faultline Longmorn 21 and a Cragganmore 23Dig that Longmorn. It's gotten better with a little air.
Parkersback
Picked up an anCnoc 12 and I'm really pleased with it: has that light, sweet-ish Speyside-like character, but has a fair bit of complexity, too. A little bit bitter (in a good way) in the finish. The price is right, too: $34 + tax.
Trey Manthey
Glenmorangie Companta for $80, but won't crack it for a while.
Jorgemu1
Glenmorangie Companta for $80, but won't crack it for a while. That's a great price! I've stopped myself from getting the Companta because I know it would lead to getting the Ealanta, Finnealta, Artein, etc.
Max Power
That's a great price! I've stopped myself from getting the Companta because I know it would lead to getting the Ealanta, Finnealta, Artein, etc. They're all really different. So, if you like one it won't mean that you'll like the others are. Glenmo makes great stuff, but the Ealanta and Companta couldn't be more different. The Companta is a more dry version of Quinta Ruban more than anything. It opens up with air and in nuanced throughout. Ealanta is bright and bourbon-like for a 19 year malt. The Glenmorangie does a great job changing it up from year to year.
jvd99
I was searching for liquor stores on my GPS since I was in an area I hadn't shopped in before. I was heading to a particular store when I saw another that hadn't registered on the Nav. It was a run down place, but not bullet proof glass bad. Holy crap! Great selection of scotch. I didn't look too thoroughly because I spotted my purchases right away. 4 1989 Mac 18's at 2007 prices. I've read rave reviews of the '89 and couldn't believe they've been sitting on the shelf for 7 years considering that Mac 18 usually sells everywhere. I'll be going back for a Yamakazi 18 for $109. This could be my new honey hole. Never made it to the other store.

I am looking forward to your impressions from your honey hole [emoji106]I have to get through a few opens first, but I'll be opening a new release Mac 18 along side the 1989 in the fall. There's no other way to compare - I'll let you know.

berto
Laphroaig 10. It was a couple bucks cheaper than usual and I felt bad about not having a bottle so it came home. My wife even knew what it was because I showed her the seagull's armpit video.

garbanzobean
Picked up a batch 29 Aberlour A'bunadh. Didn't get on the A'bunadh train until the 40s, so I'm excited to try this lonely feller out.
garbanzobean
Also picked up a bottle of Springbank 12 CS. Forget which batch. Regardless, it doesn't seem to be available in Maryland, so I was happy to buy some in Louisville on my way through town.
tanstaafl2
Best kind of "purchase" today. A gift from a generous friend returning from London helps mark one off my rather excessive list of things to buy. Nikka Whisky from the Barrel Have tried it in the past thanks to a generous SBer but now I have one of my very own! A blended whisky but I suspect a healthy component of malt from the two Asahi owned distilleries in the Nikka line, Yoichi and Miyagikyo, along with a pleasant dose of smoke. I recall it being a strong but well balanced whisky which is pretty much a hallmark of the Japanese whisky. I will be getting into this more tomorrow! Interesting that the importer is La Maison du Whisky in Paris.

I opened a bottle of this a short while back, it was a Christmas present from my brother. Enjoying a small dram right now actually. There is some smoke definitely, but I find it comes out in the finish and the aftertaste. On the nose I can't really notice it, probably the peated Islay malts have dulled my senses to it! For some reason, the finish and lingering aftertaste remind me a little of a bottle of Springbank 12 CS that I once had, but perhaps that's just my imagination. That was the first thought I had as well. The smoke is indeed subtle and doesn't compare well to an Islay but he Springbank CS 12 seems more reasonable comparison. As does the Westland American Malt we tried today oddly enough.
HD 335
First time posting in here, but wanted to share a nice 375ml I found at a local store. Did a little research while I was there and ask the spirits buyer about it. Seemed to fit exactly what I wanted as the weather gets warmer. Wow, never thought about comparing the Westland to Springbank but I guess there are some similar hints there. As for me, it was not a purchase but my coworkers gave me a bottle of Bowmore 12 to mark my last day in my current role. I'm staying with the company and team, but moving offsite to support a local operation so I won't be seeing them as often. I thought it was a pretty cool gesture, considering most of them did not even know the difference between bourbon and scotch before I started educating them
tanstaafl2
Probably not as much fruit in the Westland as the Springbank but I need to sit down and try them side by side to decide if it is close.
garbanzobean
Nikka Miyagikyo 12. If I enjoy this half as much as I do the Yoichi 15, I'll be in good shape.
