Apart from one small independent store, I hardly ever see Baby Saz, Knob Creek or High West.... although I did see Knob Creek on the shelf for the first time at Dan's on the weekend. I've never seen Templeton Rye though. Would be keen to know where I can source that :)

I think Templeton was from nicks, everything else is off the shelf.

Pretty much everything on the list I could find in several different shops. Except the Templeton.

These days I look in every little run of the mill store I pass, as I have been surprised 3 times now and I cant just assume anymore. HW is really starting to get around here with at least 6 shops that have it or did have it.

Yep, I plan on stocking up on HW Rendezvous and Double Ryes as my budget allows. I did grab a bottle of Hochstadters Slow & Low Rock and Rye on the weekend. I'm enough of an Old Fashioned cocktail fan to give it a go.

You guys have access to some good stores, I can get anything

Most of my stuff comes from Dan Murphys or First Choice. But, don't forget, you also have Nicks in Melbourne... the original specialist importer. I'd need a 2nd Mortgage if that store was in my city :)

You need to let me know how that goes as the girl was looking at that as she is a bit of an Old Fashioned fiend.

Also, who thinks smoked bacon bourbon sounds good? Some guys are crowd funding it on pozible and it made the amount they needed to get it going. It actually still has four days left if anyone wants to get behind it.

Thankfully nicks isnt a convenient location for me, then again the last couple years their range and prices havent been that appealing either.

How long are you there for? We head over in September. I think we have a similar shopping list - Blanton's Barrel Proof for me, as well as maybe some Old Granddad and the BTEC if they have any. I'll be using my wife's duty free allowance, and leaving some bottles with my brother in law to mule home for me at Christmas and on the several trips he has back to Oz for work beforehand.

Just a week. I get my wife's allowance too. That place is a nice bar - bought a bottle of Blanton's Barrel Proof there last time (which I still haven't opened). From memory there was a bottle of Hirsch (25 years old?) under the bar which the barman was kind enough to share a glass with me on the house. There is another whiskey place in Singapore, though I haven't been to it.

Not to worry - I just thought it'd be funny if our paths crossed in a different country :) Apparently my wife and (5yo) daughter have planned a 'spa' day to allow me and the brother in law to spend the day bourbon hunting and sampling :)

It would have been a laugh for sure! Had a glass of the Blanton's Barrel Proof last night. Was nice.

Bought a bottle of that Slow & Low today. Not bad for a glass or two (at most). Now onto ORVW 10.

Nice. ORVW from dans? If so whats it going for?

Nah, bought it from Burwood a couple of years back. Think it was $110?

Seeing as ORVW is on Oakbarrel's website for the princely sum of $380 per bottle :skep: ... I suspect we are going to be in for a rude shock when it arrives at Dan's. Not that it bothers me, I've lost all interest in the BTAC and Van Winkle releases and because I've never had any of them, I'm blissfully unaware of what I'm missing.

I can't believe I'm saying "The Good Old Days!"...... When ORVW 10/107 was $110, Rye was about $135, Pappy 12 $140 and Pappy 15 $150. If I'd known what the prices were going to do, I'd have picked up a couple of bottles of all of the above (except 10/107)...... FWIW, I thought those prices were bordering on not being worth it, so I can honestly say I'll NEVER buy a bottle at todays prices.

I hear you. Used to live ten minutes from Burwood. Only ever bought the ORVW and Pappy 15. Only really started to enjoy the ORVW recently. Haven't opened the Pappy. I hear what you're saying price wise - a bottle of Blanton's Original at $65 does it for me. Let us know what you think of the Slow & Low when you open it. As I said earlier, my thoughts are it's ok for two drinks.

Yeah, Graham was a great guy to deal with - I have no idea if he still stocks Van Winkle, or if the Southtrade deal with BT overrode his agreement with the Van Winkle's....

As for the Slow and Low, I love Old Fashioned cocktails, so if it's in any way similar, I might be in trouble :)

Had the Hochstadters Slow and Low on Saturday night (actually brought a bottle back from o.s) and was pleasant,y surprised to see it at Dans. Really liked it for an instant gratification Old Fashioned. I usually use rye in my Old Fashioneds so this went down a treat.
