flahute
It was revisit the vattings night but I combined them for a result of 2 parts 4RYL/1 part W12/1 part WT101. I did this as I wasn't thrilled with the 1:1 WT/4R combo at first though it is improving steadily with time, this new combo last night was very enjoyable and I will return to it soon. The personalities of all three came through in a very nice balance. 4R lead off with its 10 recipe layered sweetness followed buy the WT spice and finished with the W12 char. I really enjoyed the progression. Followed that with some 2013 4RSB LE OBSK which about 1/3 down the bottle is starting to feature a lot of chocolate notes, damn that was delicious! Finished with a splash of WT101 just to see how it measured up, it didn't. I will have to do that one on its own not up against a monster like the 4R, but that vatting held its own just fine. A swell bourbon evening whilst watching Stg 5 of Le Tour.
AnotherCigarGuy
McKenna 10 yr BIB. Is there a better $30 bottle?
KyleCBreese
Drinking the McKenna 10yr BIB as well. 2011 bottling has lots of dark chocolate with a minty background.
GaryT
Enjoyed some Bookers at dinner (as their "bourbon" selection was limited to that, Makers, and JB White). Was happy it was a roundtable batch! Was not happy with the price for a pour :hot: Need to remember to order water, and come home to drink the good stuff
Thig
McKenna 10 yr BIB. Is there a better $30 bottle? If so I have not found it. I am afraid our secret is out, oh well, watch the price start climbing.
Red One
Started with some John Bowman and then some Barrel Strength Four Roses. Enjoyed both very much.
LCWoody
Having some Old Blowhard tonight it's a good bourbon but for the prof it's a little hot. I've had EWSB and HM 10y that had more complexity and flavor than it. Overall I'm glad I bought a bottle. It's not that often you get a chance to try a 26 year old bourbon. smokinjoe
Some nights, lead to some whiskies, just hitting all of the right notes. Tonight, a KBS selected 1792 is spot-on perfect. Floral notes, leather, and with a wonderfully creamy caramel blanket covering, is dessert in a glass. :yum:
davidg07
A little a Four Roses Small Batch tonight. First the standard, then the 2013 LE.
Thig
I have had a bottle of Baker 7 Year for a couple of months and just got around to opening it last night. Fantastic. Thick caramel, nice burn, finish last forever.
squire
That's how I remember it Thig, a little hot but very high grade stuff. We have a lot of quality Bourbons on the market but for me what makes one stand out is the finish.

Hehe yeah cantillon is great . The EC12 is nice. Im still new to bourbon. So far I think I liked buffalo trace a bit more. Could also be because it's a bit sweeter. BigRich
Some of the '13 GTS while the electrician is working downstairs. Damn this is hitting it for me so much better than the last few Staggs.

bad_scientist
4RSmB and the 2nd batch of Stagg, Jr. The Stagg Jr. Has lost a bit of its hot rum raisin/tipsy cake flavor, but it's still pretty good to me. Better than the CEHTBP in a blind tasting set up by my wife.Nonetheless, 4R makes fools of them all.
JGriff
Weller 12. Going to mix with the Antique for the next one as a lot of you have recommended. Never tried that combo before.
jonhalter
Just got home from Vegas. I got a chance to try a casino pick 4RSB which was good. And my first ever GTS, Old Rip 10, and Handy. The bar that had GTS also opened a box with WLW but it wasnt in the computer yet so they wouldnt sell it to me. That was my last day there so I didnt get a chance to try it. GTS is freaking fantastic, and the finish last close to a minute. My wife was a good sport. I really took my time with all of these, and tried to really focus on them (bar setting can make that difficult) . She found it comical and kept asking why I was moving my tongue in and out of my mouth, which is what I do when tasting something new.
fishnbowljoe
I had a very busy, and oft times frustrating week at work this week. The good news is, the management "team" actually listened to me about a few issues and concerns. Seems a few other employees have voiced some things lately too. I guess my 20 years there are good for something after all. The best part of my week was in our weekly all employee meeting when it as announced that a suggestion that I had was taken seriously, and actually implemented. I was even thanked for the idea, and positive input. Pappy 15 in the glass. Nuff Ced.
