Passed up Blood Oath, no price tag and didn't want to know. Seated high above the top shelf, too.

But... that fancy box!

A fancy box will only get you so far...

I'm in mid-shelf hoarding mode anyway. Gotta snatch up those discontinued bottles first!

When I see stuff like that I always think... "How many known good bottles of whiskey can I get for the price of this one unknown?"

Hell, how many bottles can I get just for the price of the box?!?!

Must be an epidemic, ha! I do the exact same thing.

Ancient Ancient Age 10 Year... €90.

Possibly (probably?) a very nice pour; but that price... I agree with emr454: Ouch!

One of my friends is a musician and a big bourbon drinker. He performs as Wooden Wand and has an album titled _Blood Oaths of the New Blues_. I need to ask him if Blood Oath Bourbon inspired his album's title. James is frugal, so probably not. I need to ask him about it, though.

That's Binny's, makes their tag line kinda preposterous, "if you can't find it at Binny's, it's probably not worth drinking."  Things are kinda sad in the bourbon aisle, that's for sure.  To give them credit, there were a few things outside the photo, but not many, here's another angle but not sure it's much better

Not like it used to be, back in the good ole days where killer whiskey just languished on the shelves that nobody wanted to buy.

Passed on an OWA this morning. $35, little pricey.

But found later today a grocery store with about 20 bottles of NAS Elijah Craig with the old label, & in the back of the shelf was 1 lone back-label 12.

Passed on everything obviously.  Not sure where this guy is getting vintage 4R LE's and selling them in a retail setting

I would be tempted to get the Knob Creek.
What Orphan Barrel was a shelf below?

I wouldn't want to pay $200 for a 28 year old bottle of George Dickell.
28 years seems like too long in the barrel to me. I would have passed that one up too.

I see the KC2001 all over for around $115 to $125. Still a pass.

KC2001 is all over Chicagoland, apparently we're getting a ton of it.

It's everywhere in MD too. Often behind glass and gathering dust.

I asked the guy at Binny's over here if anyone is actually buying it... and the guy said yes people are buying it but they get a lot of stock... I wanted to call BS right away but decided to be nice and bite my tongue.

I suppose it's possible that it's being sold and restocked here too. That would surprise me. I tasted one bottle bought by a buddy. This thread gives me an idea to do a SBS with a 11.7 y.o. 120 pf PS bottle I have.

It's even still marked down to $99 at Binny's and you can pretty much find it at any of the stores. Binny's just put out their KCSB PS last fall, priced at $40, with 8-10 different barrels available, many 12+ yrs old, & with tasting notes for each on their website. So why buy the 2001? Even flippers & status seekers wont buy it because KC doesnt have the buzz that other LEs have.
