I have a few open bottles I'm trying to work through before opening new ones, so it will be a little bit before I try it. Was just curious what others think about it. I have really liked the Belle Meade single barrel bottles and was curious how this compared. That's no reason not to try a new one. Open it. It will keep. You can put it aside once you try it. If you actually have the bottle in your possession there is absolutely no reason not to try it while you ask others what they think of it.

Old Forester 1920 came within a hair of making the 20 best whiskies. Some of the judges were put out that it wasn't included. At least so I read. It is one of the best bourbons I have had in recent years. All around I think it is a notch above ECBP.

Great juice, and great purchases! Old Forester 1920 has a quality about it that I do not experience often. The phrase "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" is relevant for this bourbon. It is difficult to put a finger on just what makes it so satisfying but there are others that come to mind that have the same attribute. One is the old Ancient Ancient Age, along with Elmer T Lee and the 2004-2005 Evan Williams single barrel. They all share a certain combination of flavors that for me light up memories of what great whiskey is supposed to taste like. They also control the oak component to where it is folded in with the rest of the flavors and not separately identifiable. It is not unlike a good Bouillabaisse soup, when done right each ingredient combines with the others resulting in a perfect combination.

CUfan99
Found this orange cap OGDBIB. Does anyone know if the label by design changes shades of orange? I can’t tell if it’s intentional or I just bought one that’s sun faded. I hope not.

Had two A's and an F. Of course I was predisposed to A so the back of my mind was 1 or 2, but most to my disappointment the F was the winner. One of the A's was spot on at barrel proof (116.5) but one single drop of water flattened it. The 3 or F tested good neat and then held up with a drop of water. So sad about that... JSpartan
First purchase in a while. Stopped in to see if Binny's had a couple new Hop Butcher beers. Saw they had OWA and couldn't pass that up for $25.99.

FP, I rec’d just about all Bs, I can’t remember which one exactly I’m in Lake Lure NC for the weekend, look forward to checking this D pick out. I’ve heard from a few fellow Turkey die hards that RRSiB will be available in cask strength sometime in the future not sure when. Can’t wait for that. As a ‘Lawrenceburg man’ that loves both WT and 4R, the cask strength offering from 4R is definitely a plus that hopefully Turkey can match.
Postal Grunt
Thanks to another tip from Gurgalunas, I picked up an OWA single barrel store pick at the same establishment where he found the Jr and 4R. Those guys are strict though, only one bottle per customer. It's an "If you snooze, you lose" weekend in NKC.

Never at the distillery unfortunately. We've had one or two boxes of 3 to sample from. I don't recall ANY that barrel proofed over 119. Most of the time I'm thinking a single drop of water is bringing it below bottling proof in the sample taste sizes used. Each to their own and there are many palettes superior to mine but I'd never do a pick without adding a slight touch of water to make sure the taste profile holds up well. With WT (judge with RB) I'm not sure barrel proof Russell would really be much different?
