HoustonNit, I love that expression and had a good laugh at the phrase "a hot mess." I can think of a number of bourbons that could certainly be described by that very apt phrase. Mind if I steal that expression? [emoji6]

Sorry to hear that your Weller turned out that way, but it looks like a delicious Eagle Rare was right behind to save the day!

Cheers,
Nancy

“Hot mess” is all yours. I’m also a huge fan of OWA. It’s probably my favorite non LE Buffalo Trace product. That or maybe good ole Buffalo Trace.

Maybe but it was an off day for my palate. However it that bottle seemed to be missing so much of what I enjoy about OWA and was mostly just and a mess. I really hope it was a one off and BT isn’t just pushing anything out there.

This one was a bit thin for my taste.  Not bad by any means, but I'll be leaving these guys on the shelf for you fellas.

My wife grabbed this dead soldier in her kung fu grip.

Sad to see this one go, but it has been great! If I'm lucky, I will get to see another bottle this year. Happy Labor Day everyone!IMG_2213.jpg

I’m glad I tried this, but not sure if I’m a buyer ever again at over $100. The nose on this is awesome, the palate and finish are decent, however I can’t help but thinking how good this could be at a higher proof.

The price on this one has kept me from pulling the trigger on it until I’ve tried it. If it was higher proof, I’d probably be willing to take the plunge without trying it.

Enjoyed this one but liked batch 6 better.  6 was more complex with an almost "Dickel like" nose which I know is polarizing but I actually like.

I used to think WSR was kind of meh but I've really come to appreciate the balanced, sweet nose and flavors it offers.  It always satisfies even when other good 90 proofers, such as Eagle Rare, taste "off" to me.

Won't miss this one.  Tastes too much like JB white label, which I hate.  Distiller's Cut was waay better, IMO.  This ended up being just for mixing...

A Pikesville Rye 110 hit the recycle bin after I finished off the last 1.2 OZ neat while watching the Nats lose to the Braves.  While I like Pikesville, especially in Manhattans (the season for which is coming up), I stocked up on OFor Rye 100 which is half the price and is just fine for Manhattans.  I will keep some Pikesville around as I do like it.

Did nothing for me, either.  I don’t hate Beam white, don’t love it either, but I can enjoy it when I have it just for what it is...that is, simple white label.  All the “whatever” on this bottle delivered little to nothing for me.

A 2015 FR OBSK Rutledge selection for the gift shop was finished off tonight. It was the youngest and lowest proof JR pick I've bought at 9yr 9mo and 105.8 proof, but boy did it show how amazing the man was at picking barrels. Great stuff.

Having seen no recent evidence of such... I wasn't certain he is.   ?

I want him back at Four Roses!  ?

LMAO, but it appears he wasn't as adept at picking other distillers whiskey as he was his own. Then again, maybe he picked the best of what he was given to chose from.
