Harry in WashDC
Been saving this for a rainy day. We've had very little rain this Spring. Weather.com is predicting 100% heavy rain and wind tonight (SUN) going into tomorrow. I decided to start early. I have NO intention of finishing it before the lights go out.

Postal Grunt
I have to credit Gurgalunas with providing me my first taste of 4RSmBSelect. I thought it extremely impressive but figured it would be hard to impossible to find given its limited distribution at that time. Well, Friday morning I took a short trip across the river to the HyVee supermarket with an excellent wine and spirits department. At the register, I noticed a 4R necktag on a bottle and inquired. It was a 4RSmB Select at a little bit pricey $60 or so but not not so pricey that I could resist. Resistance was futile. I opened it up this cold and grey afternoon and it didn't disappoint. It's going to be a great Sunday afternoon sip.
parksmart
Busted out one of the RRSiB bottles that I got from Costco on markdown awhile back at $29.97. Nose was a bit hot initially, which was somewhat expected based on the 110 proof. Drank really nicely, with citrus primary and oak secondary on the palate and finish. Really enjoying this, and wished I found more than the 5 bottles I got initially.....
Bob_Loblaw
Cracked an EH Taylor SiB yesterday. I absolutely love this bourbon and have not had a bottle in about a year. It's nice to revisit. What a gem.

fishnbowljoe
Well, I just got home from my latest physical therapy appointment. Good news. It looks like I'll be going into phase three of my therapy. If all goes well concerning the consultation with my surgeon tomorrow, I'll get to start working with actual weights. What better way to celebrate? Biba! Joe

What are you thoughts about it? Is it worth the $$$$? As you may recall, I am not a fan of oaky, older (10+ years) bourbon, usually. The tannins and astringent character of hefty bourbons tend to distract me. This one, though, is a nice balance of traditional bourbon flavors and has plenty of caramel, spice, pepper, and a creamy mouthfeel with little heat. The latter is probably due to its under-100 proof. Those flavors are bundled; they don’t float in and out but, instead, all appear at once as equal parts and perfectly fit together. I first tasted this in a pour by Jimmie Russell while Eddie watched. When I smiled, Eddie smiled and said, “I guess you liked it.” If I didn’t know better, I’d have guessed a master blender had stuck HER nose in the process of building the 17. But, I suppose Jimmie and Eddie did O.K. on their own.
Vosgar
Certainly not in the same league as Harry's bottle, but this is a good one nonetheless. I bought it at the Getz Museum fund raising auction during the KBF a few years ago, so yeah, I over paid for it, but I love that place and it was worth it to me. Other than it seems to have a creaminess to it I don't remember with other bottles I've had, it's classic WTKS.
