Good news it took 70+ years for government to tell us if we are allowed to leave the house, work, socialize....and, don't get me started. It’s not even so much what the government tells us...it’s the full gullibility and blind non questioning agreement of so many citizens that I find so alarming. Why did you get me started?!?!

Many of the ABC stores have that feeling when you’re in them. I write a post some years back about it. They’re downright creepy.

Marekv8
With the bars and restaurants ramping back up, I figure this odd market dynamic is coming to an end. Not nearly as crazy as last Friday, but hard to turn down a $160.00 PVW15.
PaulO
I started a conversation with the liquor manager of a grocery store. She ordered Early Times B.I.B. for me (several bottles). It's not easy to find around here. I'm very happy.

For most of the pandemic it's been outright Prohibition, and lately King Wolf has relented and allowed curbside pick up at a State store IF you order and pay a day in advance. Thank you for your kindness towards your subjects as we sacrifice our jobs and prosperity at your order. But I found out yesterday there's a loophole - you can still walk up to a distillery and pay cash for a bottle. Driving home from Pennsylvania Dutch country, we took the back road and came upon a surprise - the Brandywine Branch Distillery, housed in a big barn not too from Valley Forge. Never heard of it, but I had to check it out. I couldn't get much information from the guy tending to the stills - he said, yeah, he was bottling some bourbon that morning, go around to a side window to purchase a bottle. I still don't know much about this stuff. Their bourbon is called "Resurgent" and comes in a couple of varieties. I went for the straight (four years plus), 100-proof "Custom Cask" which the gal at the counter said was the choice for sipping. They clearly didn't distill this themselves, although they ARE distilling whiskey and declined to be transparent about the provenance of the Custom Cask. Still, I had to invest in a bottle , if only for the novelty of being able to freely buy a bottle of booze in my home state. Fifty bucks. Turns out it is apparently distilled in Kentucky from a "specially designed mash bill" and is delicious. If I were tasting this blind I would guessed Wild Turkey though I assume that's very unlikely as the source. Still, it has the round vanilla and rye spice character of Turkey, and tasting is believing. This is worth the price, and I'll likely buy another. I’m right there with you man. This has been absolutely horrendous, even what you can find in the website is absolute trash and no handles to be found. What a horrible decision, I haven’t got anything new now in close to 3 months. fosmith
Purchased online Friday and arrived yesterday a Bulleit 10yr single barrel store pick bottled at 104 proof. I didn't even know this was a thing. The store's listing didn't outright say this is 4Roses but dropped a lot of clues so that by inference and a bit of googling I concluded that it's an OBSO (or possibly an OESO) barrel. $60+tax and shipping. Looking forward to trying it tonight.

She is very knowledgeable and nice. I don't shop your side of town but if it is the store and she is the same person I am thinking of you are in good hands. Similarly, my local store in the same chain has a great liquor manager who is quite knowledgeable. I imagine that you will get a great price as well. PaulO
That is all true. She quoted me MSRP. When she entered it into the computer it was a dollar less. I told her email me any questions about bourbon or rye. Maybe I can talk them into doing some single barrel selections. I know this guy with a great palate.

I know this guy with a great palate. I don’t have it too bad where I live. There’s a couple of decent stores that I can rely on for the most part. I also have Vosgar and Galvin0791 to hang with, if and when this Covid-19 crap ever goes away. Still, there are times I miss living in Indy. I always read your posts with more than just passing interest. Indy is also 2 1/2 hours closer to Bardstown. Know what I mean Vern? Cheers my friends. Biba! Yeah, whenever this quarantine business is over, my son will start full day kindergarten. That means I can consider a day trip to Louisville and back.
