I like it, but odd. Starts sweet. Bitter finish, which I normally do not like. But here...it works.

I thought it was a blend of KY and IN straight bourbons proofed down with some mysterious NY mine water.

JCwhammie
I've been listening to these guys' podcast for almost 6 years. I've learned a lot from them, so I decided to give their blend a shot. The sweetness from the Finger lakes wheated hits first quickly followed by the rye from the Bardstown Bourbon Co bourbon. When they released their first batch I was skeptical. Since then I've read positive reviews, and I've heard Ryan Cecil (the guy who does the blending) has a great palete. I'm impressed with the work they've done here. I have no buyer's remorse.

It's going to be too cold for fishing so probably go for a drive.

The SmB is worth a try if the price is reasonable. The current SiB is a pass for me. I have only had a few bottles of the SiB and I don't believe it is worth the upcharge from KC or KCSiB.
jvd99
FR Small Batch Select...my only open bottle right now... but its a good one when there's too much craft bourbon noise on the shelf and you can't make a decision at the LS. For me, the old SmB was the peanuttiest of the Beam Small Batch collection, but I enjoyed it as an occasional pour. Never quite got its price point being higher than KC, though. Won't bother with the SiB given the price. I can say that a blend of 6.5 oz. of Old Tub and 3.5 oz. of KC single barrel will net you 10 oz. of 107-proof whiskey with an average age near 6 years, and with the extra peanut touch from Old Tub, you're getting what I like to think of as a Baker's Single, uh, Bottle.

Friend, you are someone who has found a way to skin the cat. Figuratively obviously! This type of thinking is why this forum is so great. I agree on the price point compared to KC. I could find KC for $25 and Bakers for $45. I would take two-for-one almost every time, especially since I prefer KC over Bakers.

Old Tub is a pretty fun pour to play around with. Not a bad thing with which to proof up Beam Black, for instance, and get a little mouthfeel out of the NCF factor.

Thomm
I know, I know, "What bourbon are you drinking?" Sorry, I never was good at following directions. KC Rye to begin with, then I walked the lineup eyeing the bottles like soldiers at inspection. Settled on the Irish fella at the end of the row. I think this is the most enjoyment I have gotten from this stuff since I first opened it. Such a soft, buttery mouth feel. Such a juxtaposition against the spicy rye that preceded it. And you have to admit, the color does complement my wife's birthday floral arrangement.
