I made up a new batch of clear cubes so I'm putting one to use.  While watching some college football.

Next up, Old Forester BP SiB.  I normally really like this, but after the classic balanced bourbon profile of WTRB (vanilla, caramel, oak, rye spice), the OF almost tastes like cough syrup.

I knew better.  Next time I will definitely lead off with Old Forester because the crisp fruity notes of OF don't follow the oak and spice of the WT all that well.

I've been sipping the last week or two from my three bourbon soleras,   and tweaking the last one to get it as close to "perfect"  as the first two.    The first two I'm drinking down as finished concoctions,  one leaning to the Old Forester side of things (though I don't believe it contains a drop of the stuff),  and the second having a coppery BT/4R thing going.

The new one,  in the Frey Ranch bottle,  has proven an ornery cuss but I think I tamed it with some cask strength MGP 95/5 rye.  This is exploding with flavor!    I'm next going to blind it with a WTKS and see who's top cat.

The Solera bottle sounds fun. I need to step up my game and give it a try. Maybe a project, for those long months of January & February.

Cheers

I believe they have decommissioned it due to the formation of a sinkhole nearby.

Tonight, I’ve been staying in the Lawrenceburg area. A nice OBSK to open up the evening, now I am enjoying The Small Batch Select. This expression, is a home run for me. I hope it is always readily available.

Hail To The Cult!

My last pour for the evening is a 2016 SmB LE. I have been nursing this bottle for several years . It is down right delicious. It is a sentimental  bottle. I have one more pour left, I will save for another day.

Cheers

Believe it or not I actually found our Sams here in Omaha had the 1920 Prohibition Style on the shelf for $45 a bottle!  Added a couple to my reserve cabinet!  Dean

That's one helluva deal!

If they don't like it, then that's on them.  On a side note - I wonder how many of us have that same Buffalo Trace rocks glass.  Mine is quite a clear.  The buffalo has turned brown from the inside out from use. 😀

I have one and it's one of my favorites @

I like both the syrupy goodness of the OF profile and the classic WT profile, so I married them and spent much of last summer sipping a blend of 2/3 WT and 1/3 OF100.

It’s one of my favorites, too.  I like how the Buffalo provides for a good solid grip.  It’s like laces on a football!  😁

Watching the Colts-Raiders game with a little WT101 in the Buffalo!   The KC Rye will be opened for the victory celebration.

@mbroo5880i & @smokinjoe  inspired my choice of drinking vessel while watching MNF and my beloved Washington Whatevers,  and using it as an excuse,  to break my "no alcohol during the week" rule.

I may need it!

Amen!!

Except for home games, because I can't guarantee that the glass will survive our tailgate parties 😉
