Clean tear, no broken wax, and cork pulled easily. Makes the whiskey taste even better! Awesome choice! Enjoying a pour of the same on a humid Saturday evening. The best part is I was able to get the cork out without breaking the wax ring, so I can just refill it with Ancient Age and give it to someone I hate for Christmas. Oh, and PSA: This is why you don’t buy Blanton’s on the secondary. Hahaha this made me laugh.

Cracked the 13th Colony Southern Bourbon Whiskey tonight. 70/21/9mash bill;. 4-6 years old; 95 proof. I am tempted to say all the hype is nonsense and nobody should buy it cuz that might leave more for me, but I can't. Fresh crack and it is delightful. The distillery states notes of sweet corn cobs, leather, cinnamon, tobacco, cherry, and they are right. Imagine a Sci-Fi movie where someone has a metallic contraption on their head with electrodes into the brain connected to some sort of memory thing and they have flashes of different memories. Now imagine that those flashes are memories of tastes of other bottles. I get flashes of OF 1920, Heaven Hill BIB, Remus Repeal VI, and not sure what else. Dangerously easy to sip. I can tell it would be good on a large ice cube. Medium finish. . I like. These are readily available locally in Texas but I have never tried one because I didn't know anything about them. Thanks for your review -- it's quite insightful. I wish I'd have searched for their straight corn whiskey before when I think it might have been available but I missed the boat on that. I'll have to try this bourbon one of these days soon.

Davesnothere
I picked this up on the basis of all the internet hype. It's probably just me, but I find this objectively bad. The best note I can pull from this is silly putty. Come on, we all tried it when were kids. This is as close to a drain pour as I've ever had. If the Eagles lose tonight, I'm blaming Wilderness Trail

Edit: if they win, then you'll have to drink it for every game Edited September 15, 2023 by Skinsfan1311

If the Eagles lose tonight, I'm blaming Wilderness Trail Well, that's too bad. I've tried two Wilderness Trail bourbons, but both have been their wheated bourbons. Yours is the rye mashbill bourbon if I'm not mistaken? I enjoy the store pick wheated bourbon that I have on hand, and would buy it again. Their standard bonded wheater was "meh" and I would not buy it again. I have a WTr straight rye whiskey that I bought a long time ago, but have never gotten around to opening it yet.

Their 6 year bourbon is definitely better.

LCWoody
Trying this out tonight. It’s not bad for the age but still a little young for me. But I see a good future for this Bourbon. And in several years they should have something amazing.
